As long as you pay attention in class and do the readings, you will get an A in this class. He is very clear about test questions and assignments. Lots of terms to remember, but that's with any introductory-level class.

I don't understand this teacher. I got all A's on his tests (even 100% on one) and got a B-. How is that even possible? I've missed less than 3 class sessions! I have no idea how his grading system works. In any case, he's a very dry teacher who uses his own book to "teach" from. He's pretty easy for the most part.

by far the best teacher I have ever taken. extremely clear on what he wants. repeats everything he taught from the previous class in the next class so that you get it in your head. really cares about his students. best teacher! i cant stress that enough. take it i promise youll enjoy the class

originally in class for general ed requirement but i ended up loving the subject and now it's my major. hoffman is an amazing professor. totally recommend him and only gives those certain few who deserve it a hard time. thorough enough for level 100 class

He is a nice guy and wants everyone to participate which i hate doing..he will call your name randomly to answer a quest. He does basically tell you whats on the test but u have to MEMORIZE everything! personally i think he isn't fair in grading and Im maddd bc i got a B that i don't think i deserved! Dr. Hoffman is a efficient and effective instructor. He cares about his students and makes sure the whole class understands the lecture-many examples. He is also a good human being that cares about others and what is happening in society today. Take him, you will enjoy the experience of having a professor who really believes in what he does.

Taking this teacher is a BIG mistake. Missing from these great ratings is the fact that he has no knowledge in this field. You will walk out thinking you've "got it" only to discover in another course or in grad school that everything you have "learned" is WRONG. He is not qualified to teach this course and has been known to MAKE UP RESULTS!

FYI: I bought Reading Improvement Skills For Experimental Psychology Students on eBay and saved close to 30%. I recommend you look there because its a custom book and expensive in CSUN bookstore! One of the best teachers I have ever had. His tests aren't tricky. Just study what he says in lecture. He is extremely helpful and is very patient!

He’s the best professor I’ve had in my entire college career. And not because its and easy class or he gives easy A’s like other teachers, but because I actually learned more in this class than any other. He’s patient, kind, caring, and easy to talk to. 1000000% recommended!!!!!!! Please take him you wont regret it!

I've never taken time to actually rate a prof. before, but I had to share this as a picky and experienced student. In case you haven't already noticed by our ratings, Hoffman is the best person/teacher you'll ever have. Even if his class is closed, go, wait and try to get added...it's worth it. But when he tells you to focus on a detail, do it!!!

A very help prof. We all hate statistics, but we need to take it. I really recommmend hoffman to do it. He makes sure you understand everything. We need more teachers like him. if you have to take a 321 class, take it with him, he is awesome , Do the work and you will pass with a C . HE TELLS YOU WHATS ON THE TEST WHILE TEACHING!!! Dr. Hoffman is very intelligent and fair professor. I don't know what I got yet. But I learned a lot, even though he was very hard graded teacher, I like him, he is very good. don't pay attention to other's ratings, go to class and do your work, he gives you whatever you need for the test. He is very good.

Ugh! Very contradictory (for tests & projects, says he doesn't want us to recite back what he said, but that's exactly what he does want.) Makes you buy his self-published book, but doesn't use it at all! Is unclear on tests, then says "That's what extra credit's for." Very touchy and unprofessional!

While it is true that this class is easy, I did not find it the slightest bit enjoyable. It has been my most dreaded classes in at least three years, and a complete and utter waste of my valuable time.
