Pretty much ruined the class for me. Lectures seemed to make sense at the time, but if you thought back to them, they had no logical conclusion!

Extremely hard grader. Took the Summer session and attendence everyday is crucial. Funny teacher, but hard to get an A, unless papers are flawless and i mean flawless. I ended up with a B- after doing all my work and going to all the classes while working my ass off.

great teacher, absent at times because of health but still helpful. she made up for her absence by holding extra office hours, cares alot about students. Killed any confusion we had from lecture and made it clear. Great humanities core discussion leader =)

I loved Prof. Arndt. She's wonderful. Instrumental in developing my research paper, always willing to offer her help, always insightful and always kind. Hands down the sweetest prof. I've ever had the pleasure of having and I wish I could have her for all of my future classes. Comfortable, loose class atmosphere, no busy work. Take her.

Consider yourself lucky if you have her as your professor for HumCore. This was the first HumCore class where the class actually participated in discussion. She doesn't put down your ideas, but instead helps you develop them. She grades easy on Midterms/Finals but grades a little harder on papers.

The most amazing professor I have had thus far while attending UCI. She is a sweetheart, always willing to help and never acts pretentious or superior to her students. She is very insightful and definitely knows how to teach, encourages classroom discussion and made me very interested in the material! The BEST of the BEST

I gained so much valuable insight out of this class. If you want a teacher who knows what she's doing, directs great in-class discussions, and will guide you to writing a paper you're proud of, then Arndt is definitely the right choice. 1B material itself was very interesting, and Arndt made my experience enjoyable & worthwhile. Thanks professor.

She is difficult, but a huge help if you go to office hours. And if you can't make office hours, email her to meet another time. I once emailed her and met her a few hours before the essay was due. She will read your entire draft, and make improvements. She is also very smart, and knows how to teach a text. Her final is a little difficult though.

GO TO OFFICE HOURS, HAVE HER READ YOUR ESSAY, AND WORK IT. YOU CAN EXPECT A LOT OF HELP FROM HER, AND SHE IS NOT INTIMIDATING LIKE OTHERS, AKA HARTZ.

Professor Arndt is helpful if you go to her office hours. Midterm and final were difficult. She says that midterm/final are not designed to be hard and you should be able to get a good grade if you've read the text and went to lecture. However the questions she asks are more application-based and do not seem to reflect what she argues.

Assigns a lot of review material that is not really specific. What you are left with essentially is not review material but study everything you possibly can. That is the only real complaint I have. Questions are usually broad and ask you stuff like which is better or more successful (essay questions).

Possibly the worst lecturer I've had so far. She waters down the material into extremely simple terms during discussion, asking us whether we "like" certain topics. Was incompetent at generating student participation and doesn't know anyone's name. She never calls on anyone by their name, and just points to you. EXTREMELY hard essay grader.
