Hendricks is a great teacher. Super funny and sassy but in a good way. I love this teacher and if you are going to take PHOT V01 I recommend him!! He is a fairly easy grader and is more interested in the concepts of your photos. He supports creativity above all else and I would definitely take classes from him again! :)

Comment:

Hendricks is a great professor who is clearly passionate about photography. He is clear on how projects will be graded and will help you on not only your assignments but also with other photography endeavors. If you miss an assignment he will give you an "F" on it but will let you turn in extra credit to bring up your grade.

Pay attention to what he says do everything correct (for ex. don't print backwards, don't cut corners on processes, so don't make simply mistakes) always keep taking picture that doesn't show assignment work for extra credit he wants to see you keep working. he won't explain things to you unless you have a vault memory or a note pad

Comment:

One of VC's best. Cares about his students & inspires them to max their learning & creative potential. An easy A, but don't be that turdburgler who shows up late & only for project turn-ins & the test. Yes, only one test and no final. Your projects are your tests. This class is pricey tho, even wo a book materials cost about $300 -buy used!

Bill is narcissistic to say the least and shows no interests in the student's work. He's one of those teachers that tries too hard to be new and exciting. He can't stand the possibility of being obsolete when he clearly is. It's not photography or art that drives him, it's his vanity. Show up in his class just for credit and learn elsewhere.

Awesome teacher. Teaches you to think outside the box. Submit extra photos for extra credit and it's an easy "A". Fun class, taking 2 classes with him next semester. I have learned so much from him.

He is a very good teacher in that he knows what hes talking about photography and lab stuff and composition, and it is a very easy class. But his ego is OVERWHELMING. He will give you the meaning to your own photograph before he lets you talk, he asks vague questions with the answers already in mind, and talks a lot about how cool he is dum

I don't see how ANYONE can give him a bad review. Hands down BEST teacher and class I have ever had! The ONLY one that I have actually ever looked forward to. The only negative comment I would give him is that he does always expect deep meaning from photographs when that is not the only type of photography. Thats just my opinion though :)

Absolutely inspiring person. Great at conveying his message and getting students to actually have to critically think for themselves. He tells it like it is and has a real passion for the art that is photography. He also helped me with supplies by having me help him with cooking, which is extremely appreciated (don't expect the same, but COOL!).

Great teacher! Class will take up a lot of time but if you are interested in photography it is worth it! Hendricks gives you a new way of seeing things, forces you to be creative, and makes you realize what you are capable of. Definitely moving on to intermediate photo only because he is teaching that class also!

One of the best at VC. He's honest, and not harsh. He knows his material extremely well, and helps with anything you need. Respect his time and equipment, and you'll succeed. He's motivating for someone who's majoring in photo, or for someone with minimal interest. Take his class!!!

He is a good teacher. The class takes up a lot of time during ur summer, not only is there a five/four hour class but you also must take pictures on your own time.The class doesn't seem long b/c your in a black room & dark room & get to develop photos & thats really cool! he's honest and you learn to think about photography differently.

Bill is the worst and best teacher I've ever had. If your just looking to taking the entry level class you'll enjoy it and learn a lot. But, if you major is photography be perpaired for a rollercoster. One day he will want to be your best friend, and the next your dead to him. Learned a lot, but didn't like him.

I liked waht he had us do for photo asments. I had to realy think when I got my asments. It maed me work hard to do weall in his class. I got a B and I am glaed that he gave me the graed that I desrved for my work. I am plaming to take some more photo classes next samaster with him. I think I also whant to be a photographer.
