Prof Lazar was one of my favourite profs at York. She is enthusiastic about children's literature and is an expert in the subject as well. If you put an effort into this class, it will pay off. There is a lot of reading involved but it is mainly children's books. Highly recommend any class with Prof Lazar

Amazing professor! Very passionate about what she does, which makes class fun. Will help you if you ASK. I don't understand people saying she's rude... it's probably because they don't go to class. If your writing is good and you show up to class with material read, you will be FINE. Awesome prof, not a bad thing to say.

I have never had a better prof. In my career at York! She was so passionate about the material and extremely knowledgeable. Her feedback was informative, motivating and helpful towards furthering in writing skills and critical analysis of texts. I loved the class and would recommend it to anyone looking for a course to look forward to. Take it!!!!

One of the best profs out there. Had her as my T.A. Always willing to help and always willing to clarify. If you think reading picture books, Harry Potter, or peter rabbit is tough then this isn't the course for you. Expectations were crystal clear and she was even willing to proof read..just had to ask! BEST PROF!

Not a good prof. Not helpful. pointless class. Lectures are dry too much reading. Too strict standards very vague assignments no clarity. TAs are horrible! Stay away! Best advice I could give!

Where to begin. Stay away from this class and teacher and TAs! Too much reading -no support - attitude- rude- pointless class. In general you should stay away from this teacher and her TAs the horror stories are true!! WORST prof. And TAs i have ever experienced!!

The worst class EVER! The material is all over the place, very vague details on assignments/exams both TA's and teacher unapproachable and unclear. Marking has no steady or consistent scheme it is all over the place just like this class, and assignments are ridiculously unclear. There is no support, WAY too much reading to grasp anything. Horrible

Do not advise taking this class there is LOTS AND LOTS of reading. There are unfair grading levels and clarity for assignments is unclear and all over the place. The TA'S are a nightmare and the prof as well.

One of the worst classes I ever took not because of the material but rather the prof and TAs are horrible and unhelpful. there is a lot of reading and not enough academic support.The guidelines for grading are at too high a level and the class material is all over the place making it difficult to write the exams. You want to stay away.. trust me!

As a prof. she is unapproachable for questions that conflict with her views, will not change her ways if the majority ask for a compromise, and failed more than half the class because they forgot an authors name but still knew where the quote came from in the exam question and could answer in context. I can also wikipedia her lectures...

An excellent professor, and it really helps to have her as your TA. Keeps tutorials interesting, and explains things very clearly. Very approachable as well, and visiting her during office hours helps a lot. There is a lot of reading, but if you keep up with it, you'll be fine. A bit of a hard marker though, but not terrible.
