Decent teacher. Tests are an easy A. Was very skeptical about her grading toward essays but she has to be the easiest grader ever. Received an A on 2/3 essays and a B on the 3rd. Only went to the ILC once for each paper. As far as in class, she tends to easily get off topic. Will waste whole class telling stories. No posted office hours either.

There was a lot of group work and a test every other week. However, Mrs. Avery graded very easily and personally went over papers with students. She also had floating deadlines for papers which was nice. The only problem I had was that there were not enough assignments, so the final lowered my grade significantly.

Advice for you don't take her. All her assignments are easy but she grades really hard. If you believe you can get an A. You will not because she grades the final paper as if god has wrote it. Doesn't teach anything in class

She gets off topic so easy and barely teaches, be prepared not to learn a thing. But this class is mandatory for al students so take a different professor if at all possible. She is very nice and lets you turn in paper on a floating date system with multiple drafts, thats her only plus. Tests pretty easy if you read for yourself.

Mrs. Avery is the best teacher ever. I am terrible at English, but she made this class fun and I really wanted to be there! We had 4 papers and she was super helpful with them. Gives you multiple attempts to make revisions. She is the best teacher I've ever had!

Fun personality, but doesn't teach the content. If you need help in grammar this is not the class for you. It's a very easy class. A lot of useless class time, but all grammar help is referred to the ILC. I was furious at this. I needed help with grammar & we were supposed to have four tests on it; didn't take one test on grammar. Referrs ILC.

Loved this teacher. took class days to read essay before they were due. not alot of assignments, but they are easy. due dates are almost always pushed back. was more that willing to help with anything.

Great teacher, you can really tell she knows the subject and cares about it. Her assignments can sometimes be unclear but she is flexible and understanding. Overall a great teacher. I would recommend her and will try to get her for future classes.

This is my 3rd class with her and she is the best ENG teacher at Wake Tech. Her classes are very easy, and as long as you do everything she says, you have a good grade. She reduces the amount of work in every class I took with her, which is great and happens often in her classes. Take her if you get the chance because she has a great personality.

The Best Professor EVER!!! She has a great attitude, and makes the class interesting and fun! I did not realize how much fun British Literature could be until I took her class. Her assignments are reasonable and she gives numerous opportunities for extra credit. I highly recommend her class!!!!

Mrs. Avery's HUM-160 was alot of fun and I made an A in the class. It is a slack class because there is not too much work. She loves films and she had a great range of selected films. She does have some dates and things wrong in her lecture, but that is something that a filmlover like me would notice. She is great and take her HUM-160!!

I loved Mrs. Avery's ENG-241 class, she is a lot easier than Martin-Young and Ward, who teach British Literature I. She makes it a lot of fun to read and it is a slack class. I made an A and I hardly did anything to earn it. She is great & she will make you laugh and there isn't even that much work to do in her class.Take her 200-level lit class.

Fantastic teacher! She made British Literature super interesting and fun :). Definitely take her, you'll enjoy her class... and personality. She jokes a lot and will make you smile, even if you're stressed and having a bad day.
