On the first day of class, she said she doesn't give A's. This was my cue to work really hard, after all, I love a challenge. After receiving a C+ on my first paper, I thought I could kiss my 4.0 goodbye. I worked really hard on my next two papers and studied like crazy for the tests. I ended up with the golden ring, an A. Anything is possible!

Literally the only bad professor I had at Suffolk. I Read about 3/4th of the textbook and still only got away with a C. Does not teach whats so ever. Test questions are 100% random and she grades the term paper ridiculously hard. STAY AWAY.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER. I dropped the class prior to the first day of classes, however I still ended up on her roster, and she was threatening students such as myself who do not do the work will get an F in the class. It took her FOREVER to take me off her roster because she was not updating it like the registrar was saying she needed to

Dr. Ripel is one of the worst professors i have ever had. She teaches irrelevant information and grades papers as if she is editing a book. (She is also an editor). If she doesn't like your style of writing she gives you a horrible grade. She does not seem to care about anyone, and is just a horrible teacher. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!

I had her for western civ, and she was absolutely horrible, her lectures would have nothing to do with anything, to pass a test you have to read alot of the text book and even then she'll ask questions like in what civilization was the weather nicer... Absolutely horrid. I never got anything below an B+ in history before and she failled me.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!theres a crazy amount of notes, after about five slides everyone just gave up bc she gives you about one minute for four paragraphs of notes. i have no idea where she gets the test questions from, she makes it pretty clear she wants you to fail. term paper is imposible. God help you if you fall asleep or text, shes crazy.

Never ever take her class unless you want to sleep in class and fail.. She has alot of knowledge but dont know how to teach, and she don't teaches from the textbook. we have to read textbook by our own... We have a mid term day after tomorrow. I'm a history education major. I had a working knowledge of the material going into the class. She gave me a D+. This was a Western Civ 101 level course covering 2000+ years of history. Her tests ask for the most obscure things possible. Ex: Instead of asking who signed the Magna Carta, she'll ask where they got the parchment and the ink.

If you want to waste a semester and fail,I urge you to take her then!I got an F on a paper because it was a page short!!! How do you give a student an F. Those four miserable hours doing that paper was pointless- You could hand NOTHING in and get an F. The tests are HORRIBLE-I don't think one person in the class passed.. The class average was a 40

She is a stickler for attendance! DON?T BE LATE!! She won?t take due assignments after she collects them first thing when class starts. So if you are late even 5 minutes and she already collected the papers you are SOL. She also has a strange idea about what Plagiarism is. She Co wrote the textbook she uses in class. It comes with a study guide

I'm normally a B to B+ student but with her i cot a c. She just sucks. It is impossible to get a good grade on her papers. I never got below a B on other papers i have written but with her i received a D+. She loves to hear her self talk. Don't take!!! I used to love history she just killed it for me.

Very nice lady but very boring. Yes, the tests are take home....but often you can argue for at least two of the answers for each question. Finding a direct answer to any of them is as likely as winning the lottery. She's a stickler for attendance, and her tests take HOURS so this class is NOT for people who have jobs.

She grades papers EXTREMELY hard and i havent figured out where she gets the material for her tests. I got an A in EG13 but a D's on her papers. she only has 2 tests and theyre take home..as easy as it sounds, the questions cant be looked up in the text and i couldnt even google them...plus shes probably the dullest person ever...do not take her!!

This class is not for the weak, timid, or faint-of-heart. If you already have a heavy course load, this course is not for you. But if you don't mind take-home tests and putting your best foot foward while being bored to tears...go for it.

she is an extremely tough on grading papers! She is unrealistic on what she expects on papers for a beginner history class. The only thing that may save your grade is the take home mid term and final.

The class was so boring, and she is a very hard teacher to get along with. She grades unfairly and does not have consideration for other peoples thoughts, nor creativity. I would not recommend her class. She does however have everything take home, and essays. so if you like that then you are good.
