Initially failed this class then retook to get a C. Honestly the worst professor at Rutgers, completely killed my passion for nutrition. I only passed cause she offered extra credit for food donations. Do not take this class ever. Makes you memorize tiny details and lectures are completely dry and unhelpful. Just save yourself and don't take this.

Exams are extremely detailed. Far too difficult for an intro level course. Extra credit quizzes are really hard too.

Her exams are SO hard. Do not be fooled by the name of the course, "INTRO to Foods and Nutrition" because this might as well be an advanced course the way she teaches it. Pop quizzes every so often, and definitely buy a textbook. The exams have extremely detailed questions!!!

I don't know what people are going on about. She's very passionate about the topic, and I found the class somewhat interesting. The lectures are a bit slow, but there are constant opportunities for extra points. While she isn't my favorite, you really can't go wrong with this course.

Reads straight off the powerpoint and is the most dry lecturer I have ever experienced. Tests are insanely detailed and specific. This entire class Is based on your ability to memorize, and completely turned me off my major. Consists of 2 hourlys and a final. She does give a lot of extra credit wish I recommend doing or you won't pass.

Nice, hard to talk to, gives a ton of EC. Average without EC would've been 76 and I did 8/9 of the EC opportunities and got a 91 average. Know the lectures inside and out

Nice professor, she gives a TONS of extra credits during lecture in the form of quizzes. Lectures are interested when you are willing to learn about food. Memorize the ppt slides and study base on the study guides and you will do fine. Easy A.

Go to class bc she gives a lot of extra credit quizzes that are WORTH it. Her powerpoints have conflicting info. 3 exams- two 80 question exams worth only 70 points (gives 10 free questions) and an 100 point final. DONT NEED TEXT just memorize slide but there are a ton to remember so focus on what she focuses on in class.

Don't buy the book. I never used it. All her exam questions are straight from her slides. Hundreds of slides to MEMORIZE for each exam. If you aren't good at memorizing things, you will not do well in this course. She's not approachable either. Gives alot of extra credit opportunities, which speaks to the level of difficulty of this course.

Boring class, boring material. she reads off her slides, which are posted online so no need to go to class except for when she gives random extra credit quizes. do no waste your money on the textbook, you will never need. Her exams are not easy, but it's easy to pass the class. don't take this class unless you really need it for your major.

I'm interested in nutrition so I chose this class. This professor is not a kind one. She never replied my emails about questions and never answered people's questions on sakai in the chat room! Her exams were frivolous and her personal opinion about nutrition were sometimes ridiculous. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!

Don't take this class unless you need it for your major. Her tests are EXTREMELY tricky. She gives E.C. pop quizzes that are rarely helpful. Don't need the book. Gives 3 MC tests. Attend class b/c she explains the slides in detail. Important to study every detail.. I would try to take someone else if possible

The class isn't as hard as people are making it seem. The lectures can be very dry and boring at times but she gives A LOT of extra credit opportunities. I had 17 points extra credit. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. You do not need it. As long as you take good notes on the lectures and study you'll be fine. Dont take this class if you dont need it!

Not a hard class at all. She puts up all the slides online and gives extra credit pretty frequently. I bought the textbook but barely used it. The final uses the textbook a little more but you could probably get away with not buying it. Overall pretty easy class and you get a general overview about the subject.

Easy class. I didn't buy the book and I missed atleast 5 classes and still recieved an A in the class. If you study and read the slides, you'll do fine. Yeah she is a little mean herself but its a big lecture class so it's not bad. The class definitely was not as bad as other people below said,

Not a bad class. There are no written assignments or anything, and she gives a lot of extra credit. All powerpoints are posted online. Be sure to read over them multiple times prior to the tests because some questions can be pretty specific. And make sure you go to class. She tells you some questions/topics that will be on the tests.

She's really not as bad as everyone below is making her out to seem, although her tests often include random questions you didn't expect but are not impossible. She literally just stands there and reads off of her slides so theres not much notetaking

This professor's "facts" are often completely incorrect or are personal opinion. She will contradict the book and say that things it says are wrong. For instance she states that the most flavorful way to cook and eat meat is to cook it to well done. If that is her personal preference so be it but that is not fact and she asked about it on quiz.

I am extremely interested in nutrition and have a studied it a lot on my own prior to the class. The slides are a joke and while the class is easy it never ceases to feel like a waste of time. Tangel's knowledge comes off outdated and she seems to think that her misguided maternalistic instinct is sufficient reason for her nutritional opinions.
