Comment:
I learned more real-world knowledge from this class than arguably all other finance classes combined. He's engaging, makes you think, and is very knowledgeable about what he teaches. That being said, FIN 4210 is hard and you do have a group project & research paper. You get what you put into it. Cheap textbook, clear grading criteria, great prof.

Lobo is a good professor and helps you understand difficult subjects. He's a tough grader so he makes you work for your grade but he's a pleasant person to be around and really cares about his students.

Best professor I've ever had. One of the few 2 12 hour night classes that I could imagine being able to sit through. Makes class very interesting and obviously is incredibly knowledgeable. Tests are difficult. You must read, must be active in class, and must study a good bit to be successful.

The other reviews here are incorrect, in my opinion. Tests were ridiculously hard. Asks very specific questions, and there are 5 possible answer choices. A, B, and C all sound correct, D might say "B and C only", and E will say either "None of the above", or "All of the above". Apparently thinks we aren't taking other classes or have jobs.

Study prior to class. Read each chapter assigned. Complete the three homework assignments (only worth 1 point, but it helps). Multiple choice and short answer format. Multiple choice is hard, but if you read and take notes you will do just fine. Best professor on campus.

He is very passionate about Finance. The exams are not easy. You must study for every exam a head of time, studying over night will not do. Do not hesitate to ask questions. Read the chapters before class! He

Most of what the reviews say are true. Show knowledge of the basic (i.e. current bond rates, exchange rates, stock index levels...etc). He is a brilliant man but appreciates interested students. If there is a better Economics/Finance professor in the country I need to meet that person.

Dr. Lobo is by far the best finance professor at UTC. His classes are not easy, but it is very worthwhile. Regarding the comment below, he does not want to make you feel dumb, but if you do not prepare for class you can make yourself feel that way. As long as you go to class and do what you're supposed to you will be fine!

Lobo is a very smart man. However, he is very good at making you feel dumb. He wants you to learn but is not the best at helping you comprehend the material. I am disheartened every time I see that I have to take ANOTHER class with Lobo (yes, he seems to teach every class for Finance majors).

If you are a finance major you will definitely enjoy this class. Dr. Lobo's passionate teaching methods transfer to the students. He makes it fun. The exams are tough but if you do the homeworks you'll get at least an 80 on the exam. Lots of reading, though interesting. I loved this class.

I have taken Lobo for several finance classes. He is a top-notch professor. His classes aren't easy, but he really explains everything clearly, is always willing to help, and offers extra credit (it is long & not worth many points). If you are at all interested in finance you will thoroughly enjoy his class!

Finance class was relatively easy. The test were from the problems done in class. If you study the notes you will do good on the test. There are only 2 test and 2 quizzes. Honework assignment are optional for extra points. Don't plan on getting out of class early.
