Dr. Byrom is amongst the best history professors Ive ever had his lectures are entertaining and informative and the quizzes that we take are based heavily on that. I took Dr. Byrom twice, and both times I received a gold grade. If you dont pass you either didnt come to class or you just didnt care.

The class was okay, he talked about a lot of things that didn't end up being on the test though. He also does not upload grades. I didn't know my grade until the final grades were submitted last semester

Dr. Bryom is an excellent teacher, I very much enjoyed his class. Lectures can be fun, but be sure to take through notes as his exams are difficult. If youre not good at writing, I would consider someone else, as most of the class found his writing assignments extremely difficult. Dont skip the reading, show up to class, and you should be fine.

just an overall great guy. pretty funny, witty, and relatable. has a wealth of knowledge in his field. only had 3-4 tests, each chapter specific including the final. all you gotta do is keep up your attendance and note taking during the lectures and youre good.

Do the readings! They are crucial for the exams. The exams are easy as long as you show up to class and participate. The essays are easy as long as you follow his sample layout. He does get off topic quite frequently, which causes him to fall behind and postpone exams. Easy to approach and lots of extra credit available.

Show up, do the homework (which there are only like 4 assignments total), do the reading (which is occasional and manageable), and you'll be fine. no tricky test questions, all test dates and due dates are on the syllabus, plenty of opportunity for extra credit. lecture class but interesting and engaging. great teacher, and easy to approach

I noticed that previous HIST165 classes say that he makes you get a textbook. Well, as of this semester he has decided to forego textbooks and offers the readings for free on Blackboard. He gets it. He's a really awesome teacher but if you slack off, show up late or turn in late assignments without a viable excuse, he doesn't have time for you.

The book is essential to his class. He makes you buy the California History that is only offered from the school. The quizzes are questions from the chapters, and than he lectures. Exams are than on his lectures. The writing assignments are extremely confusing, except for the first one. (Which I don't believe he truly reads.) Ask for help.

I never understood or cared about history until Mr. Byrom; he has a way of explaining history that made me understand. The exams are based on the lectures, so missing class isn't worth it. The quizzes were my biggest struggle since the book's font is tiny and its horribly boring. The papers were VERY precise but his office hours are a huge help.

Brad Byrom is very passionate about History and it shows in his lectures. He is a very funny guy. Makes lectures very interesting. Don't miss class tests are out of his lectures. Just take detailed notes and you should pass. Doesn't like people to email with questions. He would rather have you ask him in person so he can make sure you understand.

One powerpoint slide per class that involves him talking for 90 minute. Exams are based on the words he speaks, not the book or powerpoint. If you are a visual learner, avoid this professor. The quizzes are based on the reading, which is only about 20 pages a week. The written assignments are stupid easy.

I am currently taking this class. Overall, the lectures are long but they are interested if you really would like to learn some history, he is a good historian, however, he is a little disorganized. He takes too long to post your grades and he tents to wait until the end to post writing assignments. Not recommended .

Professor Byrom is the best history professor I've had. He makes history very interesting. Take lots of detailed notes and don't miss class! About 80% of the exams are based on his lectures. Also, the written assignments are not too difficult or lengthy. I highly recommend taking his class. He'll keep you interested.

It was a hybrid class, which made readings a great deal of work. Dr. Byrom is very clear, helpful and sarcastic, grades fairly and gives you feedback on your work. Exams are based on the book and online lectures, so you definitely should read them and take notes while in class. Class SO worth taking it, you won't regret!

This was my 2nd class with Prof Byrom and I am taking him again. His expectations are clear from the first day of class. It isn't hard to meet them. Show up and take notes. Do the papers. Review your notes and read the chapters before the quizzes. He makes learning History interesting and fun. NO date memorization required. Highly recommended!

Byrom is pretty funny and makes history interesting and not dry. He's super particular about his assignments and grades like an English teacher, but once you get the hang of it you're fine. Tests are all multiple choice but pretty hard. 90% is covered in his super unorganized lectures so just take furious notes. The work load is very manageable.

This was on of the best classes I've had the opportunity to take at MiraCosta. There is heavy note taking and the reading quizzes can be brutal (if you don't read, of course), but Byrom is very good at making everything interesting. You will actually learn history without feeling like you've been forced to do so. Highly recommend this class.

Avoid this professor at all cost, He is the worst professor that I've had here at Miracosta. He assigns TOO MUCH WORK and gives you really difficult multiple choice exams with no notes!!! As well as an essay that's due every single Monday plus a quiz on the same day. I really hate history now because of this professor!!!!!
