Bruce is everything you'd want in a stats prof and more! He's super kind and caring for his students. Class wasn't easy especially being at 8:30 in the morning but if you go over the lectures at home it's pretty easy to understand. Assignments are difficult but they give you experience for the real world. If you have to take stats, do it with Bruce

Bruce is really nice and tries to help but I found his teaching style awful. His slides give a lot of information but do not really relate to the assignments. The assignments are graded so harshly by TAs, the tests were okay. I recommend attending PASS and office hours.

I really like Bruce, He is kind and will go out of his way to try and help. That being said, the assignments are brutal and time-consuming. They marked by TAs who are not always kind and I felt like I could not win. PASS helps for assignments but not so much for exams. I have never spent so much time on a class and did so badly. So glad it is over!

I am someone who is really bad at anything mathematical. Bruce made the class very clear so that anyone can understand stats. He was very fair with his assignments - if you felt like your grade on the assignment was unfair he would either give marks back he believed you deserved or tell you exactly where you went wrong. Great prof!!

Bruce is a phenomenal professor. Until this class i would get 50% in stats classes but with Bruce's help I have a 78%. He truly wants you to do well and gives you so many opportunities to do so. Before every assignment and midterm/test he dedicates a whole class to review. I would recommend him to everyone!

assignments long, but clear instructions. get harder and harder with stricter grading as the year goes on, but class avg stays stable (B,B+)) - u improve ur skills and abilities thanks to him. midterms moderately difficult (class avg B,B+). cheat sheet allowed. lectures boring, but as stimulating as stats can be. explains VERY clearly. great prof

Stats can be one of the harder courses for psych majors, but he teaches it really well. He goes through each concept very thoroughly with super helpful examples. His assignments are difficult but they really drive home the material. Be ready to work for your A.

psyc300 is by far the hardest course i've taken. Bruce repeats information often so it'll sink in. Really nice, approachable prof. lectures are boring but take really good notes so you understand formulas/terms/etc.. Going to pass really helped, especially before assignments were due because we would go over the answers.

Bruce really does a good job of teaching such a bland topic. I found my grade dropped throughout the course even though I could not pinpoint what was causing it. PASS was helpful, go to it. Very helpful with questions.

Bruce's class is by no means 'easy'. It requires a lot of time and effort to get an 'A'. However, getting through a challenging class like this is an accomplishment! His lectures were detailed and the notes were helpful in reinforcing the concepts discussed in class. He was available to give feedback and discuss course material. Great professor!

Amazing professor, good lecturer, however explanations are too wordy and overly explained to the point that it gets confusing. Assignments *HIGH STANDARDS*follow guidelines exactly. Midterms and finals are very straight forward except again the wording is confusing (hint: key words "population" "n or N" are usually good indicators of the answers).

Absolute awful prof. His lectures are confusing and he refuses to use a textbook. His assignments don't have clear guidelines-other than #1. I actually did better on exams when I skipped his classes. He is impossible to get help from and his TAs were inconsistent with their marking. Take it with any other professor! AVOID

Bruce tries his best to make the class interesting, but as a lot of students have mentioned, his assignments are very difficult and time consuming. Sometimes concepts in his course are not explained thoroughly enough and he doesn't give adequate examples of topics covered in the course. Overall he's an okay prof.

A lot of people are fond of Bruce, however I found his lectures extremely confusing. He is very convoluted in his teaching methods and his assignments are marked outrageously hard by the TAs. He says to do one thing for them, but when you do, you often lose marks for it! He is a very nice prof and very approachable though. Hard to understand.

Bruce is a fantastic prof! No textbook; everything you need is on slides. Assignments aren't easy, but work hard and you'll get a good grade. I only went to his office hours a couple times but he was extremely approachable and helpful. I wholeheartedly believe that Bruce is the best stats prof at Carleton! Couldn't have achieved an A without him.

Psyc stats is dry at best, but Professor Hutcheon makes it sound not only easy, but fairly interesting as well. He really knows his stuff, and can make even the most dull, boring, and difficult concepts very easy to understand simply because he's amazing at teaching. His assignment and midterms are not easy, but he is always willing to help!

I think being in Bruce's stats class is the only thing that got me to pass. Being a student who struggles with mathematical concepts, Bruce was able to make things make sense. He also structures the class AMAZINGLY. Attend PASS, reach out to the TA's and your goal in this class will be attainable.
