I absolutely love Hak. If you have a chance to take his class you definitely should. I am not even a geography major and I have taken two of classes. He is very interesting and cares about his students. He has alot of cool experiences that he can relate to the class.

If you want an A or B, take this class. There is no textbook, but you have to buy his book that he wrote - although, you can easily borrow from someone else, it is not a long read AT ALL - so i wouldn't suggest you buy it. Test are super easy plus you get to use notes. But his lecture is SOOOOO long and boring. I dread going to class.

Hak is a fantastic professor, the best ones at the school. Everyone talking about how he must monitor this site and submit his own entries clearly doesn't know Hak very well; you will never meet a less tech-savvy man. He can't work a projector, but he's a very easy and very kind man. I've taken ~5 classes with him, never regretted it.

If you are an enviro sci or enviro studies major you will get to know Hak pretty well. If you are the type of person interested in the environment you will probably love him. He's open about his opinions so if you disagree you might be turned off by him, but personally i have really enjoyed every class i've had with him. Pretty easy and helpful too

I've taken 2 classes with Carl and he is easily one of the best prof's @ FSU. He loves what he does & it comes through in the class. His exams are tricky but if you get perfect attendance it makes up for being a poor test taker. Definitely take environmental studies and/or Geo.& Legal Persp. Native Americans - both good!

Professor really knows his stuff, and I like the stories he tells in class. He comes off as really passionate about what he does, and I think that helps keep the material interesting. Come to class, pay attention, and you will do fine. He's helpful if you need it, too.

He is such a sweet man. Lectures all class period and let's out class early. He's very flexible and considerate to students needs. Tells you exactly what will be on tests and allows you to use notes. I learned so much in his class and would take another in a heartbeat. If your serious about learning, take his class.

I agree with posters on 6/16 and 6/1. Hakannson is an arrogant egomaniac who clearly posts on the site--esp. the 4/9 and the 12/17/09 comments. Who else would be offering evaluations of how altruistic he is or assessing his modesty instead of his teaching? crazy! anyway, he talks about himself constantly but class is easy--pay attention in class

I agree with last poster tho I think Hakannson's OK but arrogant. So many of these posts were not written by students. what's an ethical paradigm? More than one post says he "opens your eyes." I love the posts about how great his heart is and how amazing his modesty is. Not student comments! Class was easy and interesting, btw.

Teacher monitors this site. 1 hour after my friend posted a poor rating it was "under review' and a post with lame middle-aged lingo ("cool dude") was up. He obviously wrote most of the crazy positive notes about his kind heart, his modesty, why he's a hero--what kid would ever say any of that or give him the nickname "Hak"? LAME. Hak--get a life.

It's unfortunate that some people are personally threatened by ethical paradigms. This professor rocks and is very humble, not "arrogant." He's very respectful of other people's opinions if they differ, and he tells such funny stories to help make class fun. The material is always interesting and really opens your eyes.

Hak is a true hero; he's caring, has a hilarious sense of humor, altruistic, and modest even though he does so much good for the world. He has a great heart. I always look forward to all his classes, and am taking all 5 of them. He tells the funniest stories. If you want to open your eyes and make a difference, take his classes.

He lets you out after about an hour each class. He is a very interesting man to talk to and loves geography. He knows a lot about the environment and wants to share his knowledge. He has a lot of good insight and doesn't assign much at all. You pretty much have to write two papers and the final.
