Very nice teacher, down to earth and will help you if you ask. I thought his tests are easy because its just all the hw put together + some lecture notes. Yes he gives hw very often, but its no pressure, no grading on the hw. I would take him again.

Jarrett is a really great guy, his tests are fair and easy, maybe thats only because I'm a philosophy major, and he usually manages to make the class interesting. He is a lenient grader on everything that isn't the test. I mean honestly its philosophy, you can write about anything! Hes really helpful and is the coolest professor I know personally.

He's a nice guy. He's very easy to meet with outside of class. Makes himself available. He will think very hard about a question in class before he answers it. His test grading system is a little unfair, but other than that he does his best to make sure you do well.

a joy to know, a challenge to learn with, and a very kind soul. I do not understand why people have such a hard time with a man humble enough to slowly think a question through. He expects you to do work but you ARE in college, people. He is an intelligent, person who is always ready to think something through with you- anytime. I appreciate him.

From what I saw, this class is not for everyone. You will need to think, hence the name of the class. He's a little scattered in presentation, but overall consistent with the material in the book. Just read up, or ask, he’s happy to help. I’m not a philosophy major, or even interested in it material, however I found this course a breeze.

Ridonculous... yes, i said RIDONCULOUS. Too much info, so vague in material and info, final review was a joke ("we covered chps #,#,#,# and that's it!). Will only answer your questions with a question but looks at you like a confused dog, hesitates and then asks a question back. Decent grader but still RIDONCULOUS.

A profound mind, warm disposition, careful thinker, force of clarity, always eager to help students. In short, a dying species. Under-valued by people not interested in ideas but grades. For anyone with an inner motivation to learn and explore ideas, he is the archetypal teacher and a force of reason to be reckoned with.

I'm a little scared to take this course. It's an intro course at the 100 level and majority of the raters were dissatisfied with the course and the instructor. We do take more than one class per semester and some professors neglect that, thinking we spend all our time on their class. The course work should correspond with the course level.

did not seem to answer questions to the point of clarity, assigns too much reading...students do take more than one class and have substantial reading to do, teaches in a way geared to philos. majors, nice guy though!

I had more of a problem with the material than the professor. Dr. Jarrett was very helpful, and knowledgable beyond compare. However, he required LOTS of reading and writing. Tests are long and difficult. Grading methods are unclear due to subject matter.

This class was very hard, it seems like it was geared more towards philosophy majors, of which there was only 1 in my class. You can get a good grade if you do the work, but don't fall behind or you'll probably fail. He was also very fair with grades.

This man is the most pompous, egotistical person ever. With the possible exception of Dr. Lutz. He undermined my attempt at getting a good grade within his class, due to my working elsewhere on campus in unavoidable situations. bleep you professor.
