To the guy who doesn't give Kapps credit because he's an "Engineer" and not comp sci, keep in mind that this guy was in school before comp sci existed. If you actually care about the subject he has a ton of experience he can give you in his stories. Since this is a weed out class, I guess a ton of people who fail out are going to bash him on here.

The only reason im rating Kapps is for future students protection. He is a semi-retired prof, who was an engineer, not compsci. He is old, tired, and stretches out every word to 15s longer than it should be spoken. Never explains. Labs are impossible since he didnt teach any of the material. All students in sec in fall were in the sec in the spring

He's underrated. The guy kicks ass. People who say otherwise were probably the same ones who think learning C isn't important in computer science. Highly recommended.

I think he is under rated. His stories are fun, and he DOES cover the material. Very helpful, and not mean at all. I think he is just basically such a good teacher he is transended to a new level of teaching. The "stories" he tells you are so fun and interesting that get may not realize he is giving you important background, basics, and concepts

Likes to bable on and on, never stops. Only interesting thing was the story about the first computer bug. Does not properly prepair you for quizes. TA teaches more than he does.

A horrible teacher, cannot teach well, and perfers to ramble on about unrelated subjects instead of teaching what he should be. Teaches nothing then gives quizzes on what he "taught".

Soooo boring lectures!!! The guy didn't teach us anything. He wastes class time on pointless stories. If he tries to type up an example, he does is with one finger, sooo slow!! The only time I've learned something was during the labs with TA but that's not always enouth.

Once he asked the class about physics and chemistry. Yeah, he really doesn't teach CIS stuff if no one seems to care about his lecture. It all depend on his students, if you are smart and geeky, you will be fine.

I'm still very shocked that out of all of his pointless stories, he neglected to say he was on the NASA team to bring apollo back to earth and the fact that that horrid 72 "textbook" was published in 7 different languages. But that would explain the numerous grammatical and coding errors.
