Comment:

Charles is very knowledgable about the topic (cathedrals) and can talk about them for a long time. Doesn't ask for a lot of participation, tests are easy. Can get kind of boring, espeically because classroom is dark and his voice is soft. I learned a lot, though, and it was a fun, easy class to take to fill the Creative Arts requirement.

he is efficient. but boy is he boring. he goes on and on about small details. and his voice puts you to sleep. do not take his st. peter's and the vatican course.

Comment:

Covers everything that will be on the exams in his lectures and gives us study guides for each exam, so the textbook is really only helpful for the definitions. There's a lot of information covered, but as long as you study over time you will do well. He clearly cares about the subject and about students paying attention in class. 10/10 recommend.

Professor McClendon is great. He is being very clear and detailed with his lecture and all the assignment instructions . Basically you just need to follow the instructions and the grade will be good. The exams are fair.

Comment:

His lectures and engaging, interesting and very clear. The content of assessments (tests and essays) is very easy to master (memorization of images for tests and using the words he uses to describe images for essays and image comparisons.) The grading is not strict and it was easy for me and others to do well in this course. Interesting and easy.

Comment:

Clear, interesting lecturer, very easy grader. Don't buy textbook, just show up to class. Very little work other than tests, which cover a lot of material but are graded leniently. Take note of all art comparisons made in class. Grading criteriatest material are clearly explained in study guides. Good lecturer, interesting material, worth taking.

I really enjoyed this course, the textbook reading wasn't really necessary as he never tested on it. Prof McClendon knows his stuff, but his lectures can get pretty lengthy. The tests are exactly what he tells you they will be, and he is a fair-to-easy grader. He obviously is passionate about the subject he teaches.

Amazing, Absolutely amazing. The sweetest man ever, and he really really knows the material he's teaching. I thought I was just taking a fine arts class to get my CA credit out of the way, but he made me fall in love with Art History. Plus, he compared Roman Concrete to Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough...
