One of the best professors I ever had. She seems to genuinely enjoy teaching and wants her students to do well. She makes the material that will be on the test clear; and bases her quizzes strict off the practice problems that she assigns. Her lectures are informative and really helped me understand the material.

I took her for O Chem 1 and 2 and I had no regrets at all. She is very helpful and she wants all her students to do well. Yeah it's tough but she made it very enjoyable and it was easily my favorite class so far. Her office hours are super useful and you can tell that she's very passionate in the subject. 10/10 would take again

Had her for O. Chem 1 and am currently taking for O. Chem 2. This professor very much wants students to do well. Exams are straight forward. Just about every lecture there are in-class questions to help guide you through the material. Very helpful. Don't like o. chem. But don't dread this class. It's actually ok.

I had Professor Castro for my OChem 1 lab and Ochem 2 lecture. Yes, the subject is difficult and you have to do a lot of work to keep up in the class. However Castro made lectures entertaining to go to, and was observant of how each and every student was doing in her class. She knows what she is doing and is an excellent teacher.

Castro is an excellent teacher! She brings in cool examples of why o-chem is important. Quizzes force you to keep up. Tests are tough, but she's clear about what will be on them. MAKE SURE YOU WORK ALL THE SUGGESTED PROBLEMS!! This class really helped prepare me for the MCAT organic section.

took ochem lab 1 with Castro, VERY hard professor and hard grader, gives many quizzes, 1 week 1 quiz, so attendance are mandatory otherwise you miss the quiz, no make up quizzes; lectures sometimes unclear, office hours are more helpful than lectures, make sure you are ready if you want to take her class

Took her for O. Chem I Lab, and pretty happy with the way she teaches. The course is challenging, but she's really helpful and really cares about your learning. She'll go the extra mile for you and if you ask for help she'll take as long as you need in order for you to understand a certain topic. I would definitely recommend her.

I hated Gen. Chem, but Professor Castro made Ochem fun and easy to understand. Do all textbook problems assigned, quizzes are problems taken directly from the textbook or sometimes even extra credit on exams. It is obvious from her grading that she WANTS you to excel in the class. Go to office hours, she's a really cool professor.

Took her for both OCHEM 1 & 2. By far one of my favorite professors at USF. OCHEM is not an easy course, but she explains everything she expects you to know. Do the assigned reading after each class and the recommended problems and it'll be a breeze. AMAZING instructor, goes over all the reactions she wants ou to know and does tons of practice ?'

Always helpful and eager to make sure we can improve our grades. Quizzes taken directly from the text. Old exams are posted so you know what to expect on the midterms. Lots of in-class problems are helpful too.

She's definitely a cool persona and always available to help during office hours, but she expects a lot, and her quizzes are SUPER different than her tests so it's really hard to figure out how to study. If you can take someone else. Take someone else.

The Chemistry of Drugs was the best class I've taken at USF. She is so passionate about this course and knows her stuff. The homework was challenging but she helped greatly if you asked for it. Also the midterm was canceled and the final was take home. Everyone should be able to do very well in this course and you will learn a lot.

I had professor Castro for three classes: two semesters of organic chemistry and then an upper division chemistry course, the Chemistry of Drugs. I took this class because I enjoyed O. Chem so much with her. She made it really interesting by bringing in lots of "real world" examples. I loved all my classes with her.

She's fairly easygoing and helpful. Teaching style is slightly disorganized. You'll look back at the notes you've taken during lecture and be confused. Tests are pretty difficult, but if you do ALL the suggested practice problems and visit her during office hours you'll be alright.

you need to teach yourself ochem on your own time. just gives examples and no real teaching. very judgemental. looks friendly but isn't. gives the same explanation during office hrs as did in class.

An awesome teacher. who doesn't appreciate the historic side note of suicides among the great minds of organic chemistry. keeps the class interesting and is always willing to answer questions and make labs fun - which is hard to do for a 4 hour period in a cramped lab.
