Comment:

Clare is a really nice person. However, I would never recommend taking a class from her. I felt as her student I was not a priority I emailed her multiple times for feedback and with questions and she never got back to me. I feel like her time is consumed with other things. Getting work marked is almost impossible and she isnt accessible.

Comment:

I had Clare a few times and she is one of my favourite professors. I find her very inspiration, and treats her students as if they are future writers. Which is great for me because thats what I want to be. I saw some ratings from others claiming that she doesnt give A's but I've gotten an A.

Comment:

I had Clare for creative writing. She was an inspirational prof and really helped me be more creative and think outside the box; however, she straight up said in a one-on-one meeting that she does not give A's. So if you're taking this to get an easy A, it will not happen. If you're okay with a B, take the course! It is fantastic!

The work load increased significantly right at the end of the semester. Her writing style is a little old, but she is excellent at what she does and you can tell she is passionate about it.

Comment:

An amazing, passionate, intelligent professor who truly cares about students. Spends personal time meeting with students and is interested in students work. Excellent for students who are looking to receive relevant, critical feedback to push them to creating publishable work. Worth it unless you're looking for an easy a, or a burn course.

Clare is very knowledgeable, but she really is forgetful and not prepared for class most days. She is late every day and take an excessive amount of time give students feed back. Playing favourites is an issue I have noticed, she won't even remember your name if she doesn't like you. The class is really helpful, but frustrating at times.

Interesting person but not a great prof. If you're not one of her favorites you'll be ignored and forgotten about. Maybe I just need to get over myself, but for a field as subjective as creative writing no one deserves to feel invisible like she makes you feel. I'll never take a class from her again

LOVED both classes that I took with this Prof. She pushes you to work hard, but in a good way. Very positive lady. Of all university courses taken, she was BY FAR the best Prof., and a super person! Wish I could take more courses with her just for fun! :)

One of the best professors teaching at Mount Saint Vincent University. Clare is such a free spirit and engages in her workshops. I truly hope that she teaches more courses in the future!

Clare was fantastic. She will push you and by the end of the class, your writing and editing skills will have greatly improved. She asks you to do some pretty strange things, but if you apply yourself to the exercises, they are really helpful.

Clare is awesome. She's a great teacher, and her youthfulness really aids in connecting with her students. She's inspiring and her quirkiness is of the stereotypical writer type. This course is an upper level course and I realize that we as potential employees in a publishing company need to learn to keep track of scheduling and deadlines. I love Clare to death and I truly believe that she has made a strong impact on the lives of many writers. She is passionate about what she does. But her own scheduling & appts need work.
