This was the worst professor I have ever had. He makes all of the material extremely boring. He is very arrogant, condescending and passive aggressive. One of the readings were pertaining to the Kardashians, and he even found a way to make this boring.

He's a great professor. Super helpful & caring. He can be a tough grader though, so you have to work hard. Still, that's part of why I learned so much in his class. Definitely recommend him.

Solid Professor. What you would expect from college and is an interesting class in general, unless you don't participate then it can get boring. Ask him stories about his own children. NO TECH. Don't have your cell phone out during class, he does not take that kindly.

Professor Jäger is probably my favorite professor I've had at Rutgers. He is so passionate about the material, and I really appreciate how he navigates classroom discussion. His class is always a good time for a fun debate. He doesn't give you his opinion outright, but he'll guide you through confusing poems step by step. Take his class if you can!

I would take this class over and over again. Lit, religion and theory was so interesting that I almost never looked at the clock to see when it was over. I have recommended this professor to all of my english majorminor friends and they've all agreed that Professor Jager is a genius. Great guy, too. Work hard and you'll be fine.

Make sure you have time to read the books (most are online or can be borrowed from a local library). Attend class to take notes because he doesn't post them online. Don't forget about the online quizzes (based on notes and book events). Essays are not hard as well as exams. Overall, a good prof and a good class to reminisce about childhood :)

Worst professor he's so confusing when it comes to the essay prompts and his office hours or useless he doesn't give you any advice on the papers you show him and he makes the TA's grade everything and they give everyone the same grade! Finished with a B should have been a B+ but he doesn't care about his students to give them the correct grade

this class was really fun and jager makes it so interesting. you read books like the giver and the golden compass and you analyze them. he makes you really think but enjoy yourself at the same time, if you don't read you can still participate in lecture bc he's more into themes then the actual text. best english professor at RU no doubt

Overall he isn't a terrible teacher. His essays are ridiculous though and he isn't the easiest grader. However, there aren't many assignments given anyway, pretty much just papers and a few quizzes at the start of the semester. But that means essays count for a lot...so overall he's a nice guy and knows his stuff but be sure you can write

I can see why some people see him as a bit of a snob, but personally I enjoyed his class. He clearly enjoys the poetry he assigns (especially Paradise Lost) and gives attention to interesting points of discussion. His papers are on the excessive side though. Overall, I'd recommend taking his section of 219.

This man is the most arrogant teacher I have ever met. He is not only boring, but loves to hear himself talk. He may have valid things to say but the manner in which he conducts himself is unnecessary. I was considering English as a major and he makes me never want to read a book again. Do not take him.

THIS PROFESSOR IS THE WORSE! I'm an English major and have a heart for English but he just makes it boring and unbelievably harder than what it is. He always acts like he is right. One word to define this professor.. ANNOYING! DO NOT TAKE ANY COURSES WITH HIM!

It seeems to me that people either love this professor for his eloquent teaching style or they hate him for the arrogant way it comes across if they do not know how to appreciate him. If the later is the case, then he will know it and you will most likely not get the grade you deserve in the class. I would classify him as an intellectual snob.

Quite frankly the man is a bore. Avoid him if possible. He really bends everything to fit his personal view. His exams are quote identification, which would not be so bad if we discussed different authors. He loves Byron, Shelley, Beckford and Keats. We covered poetry in the class, almost exclusively... AVOID THIS CLASS!

I had a terrible experience in this class. This teacher is extremely boring and arrogant. He was tough in grading. I have several friends that took this class with me and we all received C's. I am a senior and thus far have gotten A's and B's in all my english classes. Stay away from Professor Jager! It is not a good situation.
