She's practically deaf and can't hear when you have a question. Her handwriting is illegible, and she doesn't post her notes online. She also can't remember what she has taught this semester, so she just puts random information on the exams that we never went over (but she thinks we did). She is no help. Do NOT take this class.

Do NOT take this class. I took this course as a junior expecting it to be interesting and fairly easy considering it is a gen ed 1000-level course... I have never failed an exam in my life and failed every single one so far. Her exams are composed of random information and her lectures are extremely boring. Trust me, you don't want to deal with it.

No one gets a near perfect score on her tests, but since she curves them, that doesn't really matter. If you study the material well, know how to do basic algebra, go the observation sessions, and use her practice exams to know what observation things to memorize, after the curb you will get A's. The teacher is nice, but not very theatrical.

i loved astronomy until i took it with her. material is interesting, liked learning about all of it, but the tests were literally impossible. take my word for it, you will struggle in the class. the tests are literally a free for all of random questions you never even learned. all multiple choice, extremely tricky and difficult. everyone failed

Peterson is very old school. She used a projector and presented information handwritten. She was sweet however and graded fairly.

If you are considering taking this class, I beg that you don't. My cumulative GPA went down .3 with this class and I dedicated the most time to this class. Do NOT think you can outsmart her exams. Do yourself a favor and take a different lab. Yes, it's interesting material, but this professor is going to be there until she's in a grave.

This woman knows here stuff but can?t teach. If she refuses to answer a question in review that means it will be on the exam. She spent three weeks of class talking about a subject she said she wouldn?t test us on and then that was all the test was. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Avoid this professor. Too old to teach, reads her notes without explaining or stopping for questions. Average on exams is around a D (curve makes it a C). If you can teach yourself the material you will get a B. Labs are easy grade boosters.

Do not take this class. Lecure is not only boring, but totally irrelevant. Her exams are made up of random and obscure questions and topics that she never adresses and are virtually impossible to prepare for.

DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. The exams are impossible. Her handwriting is illegible so even if you go to class and take notes it's hard to do well. I loved astronomy and took it as a gen ed that I thought would be interesting but this class made me hate it. Peterson knows her stuff but doesn't do a good job of transferring that knowledge to her students.

Easily the worst teacher at this school. I'm a business major who took it as a lab science requirement and it was the worst mistake of my life. Lectures are useless, tests are impossible and there's nothing interesting about it. Thought it would be interesting but she completely ruined any type of interest i've ever had in astronomy. DO NOT TAKE!

If you take this class, get ready to learn most of the material on your own. Lecture is all but useless, I use the online lecture notes and look things up on Google. If you're not truly interested in learning astronomy and having to teach yourself the material, I don't recommend this class.

I am a very hard worker and I am extremely interested in astronomy, but this class has been nothing but a pain. And it is because of her teaching style. She is a very sweet, old lady, but she tends to ramble, her handwriting is difficult to read, her lectures aren't very structured, and the tests are challenging.

This is the class to take if you are legitimately interested in Astronomy. As a teacher, she is not that great; her handwriting is difficult to read, her hearing is not so good, and sometimes she doesn't project her voice enough, but if you actually go to class and try to do well and take interest you will do fine.

SOOO this class totally sucked! my adviser told me it would be a good science requirement to fill and not have to take Bio or chem... so wrong! her tests are totally ridiculous and have things on it u haven't even covered, I really only got a good grade due to luck! Her lectures are also really pointless: you cant read her writing !

Interesting at first but after awhile I stopped going to class because it was so useless. She writes on the board the entire time and you can't read her writing. Take the online practice tests, skim the book, and do good in lab and you could come out with a decent grade. Don't take if you want an easy gen ed.

Let's be honest. Cynthia is a good professor who obviously knows her stuff, but this course is difficult if you're bad with algebra, studying, attendance, and actually reading the textbook. Her exams are challenging, but most of the answers are in her lecture notes. If you're not a hard worker, do not take this course.
