Amazing teacher! Make sure you keep up with readings, lectures are based on them. Participate! She is always open to discussions outside of class if you need help. The essays are tough, but you will leave her class a better history essay writer than before. Ask her to go over your rough drafts before they are due! That will help you pass!

Comment:

Dr. Arnold-Lourie's History of Race and Racism class is one of the few courses at CSM to prepare me for transitioning to University . Writing requirements did seem extreme but I wouldn't be writing on the level I am now without them. She also introduced me to "The Little Seagull Handbook", I recommend it to everyone! She's definitely a gem.

Horrible professor. She is down right disrespectful. The first day of class she talked about how everyone is free to their opinions and she wants hear to them even if she disagrees with what they say, then when people did she belittled them, yelled at them, cut them off from speaking, and told them "if you want to live in arrogances go ahead."

Dr. Arnold Lourie is the best history professor at CSM. She's the head of the history department so she knows her stuff. You must read the textbook and discuss things from it. She makes it easy on everyone the day after papers are due. She wants people to learn things and not resent being in the class so she will always help a student.

Class was amazing you learn so much. There is A LOT of reading that goes into it and response papers that go with those reading. She can be lenient SOMETIMES with work and just have it be optional but not always. The class overall was enjoyable. Be prepared to lose your mind

She is my favorite professor I have had at CSM so far! HIST1037 is a great class if you are interested in more recent history. Her grades consist of essays, however she is straight up about the papers criteria. Her lectures are not boring, we watched many films throughout the semester. I strongly recommend her!

If you don't read from the beginning she will get on you for the whole semester. She has a very strong personality and wants things a certain way. There is so much reading involved with this class so if you don't like reading, re think this class.

Dr. Arnold-Lourie was a tough grader and make you work for your grade, but teaches beyond just learning for the test, she teaches school skills, and offers guidance at getting the most out of your college experience! loved this class so much that we all got together for a party on the last day of school and brought cupcakes and snacks!!

As someone not interested in history, I enjoyed this class, but it took me awhile to get the hang of her teaching style. Ir you're not a reader or essay writer, not the classes for you. Reading textbook and documents are a must.

Dr. Arnold-Lourie is by far my favorite professor at CSM. I took her class on "The History of Race and Racism" two years ago and have high respect for her. She WILL call on you so always be prepared! DON'T expect an "A" without a ton of hard work! That being said, she will treat you like an ADULT (as she should )so do not expect an easy class!

Dr. Arnold-Lourie is a very brilliant teacher, BUT be prepared to read and work for your grade. She'll help you out in anyway if you come to her. She knows her stuff, plus she's funny. Instead of tests, we had 3 paged response papers. As long as you pay attention & read your assigned work, you'll pass. Don't be late! She doesn't like that.

Dr. Arnold-Lourie is one amazing history teacher. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate in what she does. Remember she is not a high school teacher, she is a college professor with a doctorate. She is tough when she grades, only to push you to be better to master what you learn. I would take every history class with her.

who ever left the last post probably expected an A for showing up. Sure, you have to work for your grade, but you learn a lot. Look at the other ratings -- they all say shes tough but brilliant. i'd take Arnold-Lourie again.
