Comment:

Dr. Dan seems like a great guy. However, I'm not sure I would take him again for an upper level math course. He was very disorganized and trying to take notes from his haphazard drawings on the board was difficult. It was hard to pay attention. Tests were okay but very long (he wanted us to come in an hour early to start!!)

Comment:

Dan is a really interesting guy. He's got a great sense of humor. He's very specific about what he expects you to know and covers all the quiz/test material thoroughly in class. He's more concerned about the big picture of the subject than he is about specifics, often only requiring you to set up problems without solving them. Homework is minimal.

A phenomenal man overall. He told us straight what he expected of us for each quiz and exam that came up, and he never threw any real curveballs. His quizzes are pretty nice and are easy to predict what they'll cover, so passing the class boils down to actually doing the homework. He's also hilarious. Highly recommend.

Comment:

Great professor. Accessible outside of class. Would DEFINITELY take again. He's a stickler for math grammar, so it's hard to get a perfect score on anything, but he curves tests and quizzes, replaces the lowest and 2nd lowest quizzes with 90% and 70%, and gives a re-test your worst test during the final. His in-class karaoke is awesome!

Dr. Dan is pretty chill. We used the textbook a lot, and he expects you to read the chapters. Exams are fairly standard in terms of difficulty, and he gives a decent curve. Lots of in class activities, mostly for participation points. Slow grader, but otherwise a solid choice. Stickler about grammar in proofs.

Cares about the students but doesn't understand when they don't understand- would sometimes get frustrated when students ask questions. Nevertheless, if you need help, he'll help you. Definitely get the book, but don't bother getting a hard copy- the online version is all you need.

Dr. Dan is a really nice guy. The material is pretty clear, and lets you know what exactly to study for exams. He does go kinda fast, and sometimes goes on random tangents. Just ignore those and you'll be alright. Just make sure if you are feeling a little behind see him ASAP. There is a lot of material, but he'll get you on the right track.

Dr. Dan is great. He moves quickly but gives accurate examples of what will be on his tests and quizzes; there's no surprises. The material is difficult because this was a combined linear algebra and intro to proofs course. His review sessions are helpful and if you put work in, you'll do fine. 3 textbooks but 2 are free online, other cost $14.

Nice guy with a weird sense of humor, but funny. Sometimes seems to be a bit condescending. Material is pretty average (if you like math), but he moves VERY quickly. If you fall behind, meet with him ASAP, he usually has a very open schedule to meet. Slightly annoying when he goes off in different directions, can be very confusing.

Fantastic teacher! Makes himself available for office hours at least once a day every week day. He may go through material quickly in class, but has no problem slowing down if asked. He will also explain again one-on-one outside of class. Very fun and knows his stuff! He does not grade easily (it is still fair though), but curves generously.

Dr Dan is THE man. His teaching, enthusiasm, humour, and clarity are unmatched by that of any professor that I have met. If you put in a moderate amount of work, you will do well. More importantly, he will help you understand AND apply the knowledge effectively. He really cares about his students and for them to truly understand the material.

Comment:

Dr. Dan kept class interesting with his math parodies and jokes. He ends to go a bit quickly through the material, but is helpful if you have questions. Most of class was reviewing homework problems (hw rarely mandatory and when it is it doesn't take a long time) and answering any other questions. Curves at the end! Great prof.
