He is crazy fun to be in a classroom with, and is an incredible artist. If you listen and are flexible, he can teach you a lot! You'll be a better artist if you are able to follow his instructions !

Comment:

I wish my major allowed me to continue taking Dans classes. He is a great professor and he knows his stuff! I walked into this class not knowing much about drawing and I walked out of this class with a good grade and so much more knowledge and drawing skill. I HIGHLY recommend taking his class. Just show up and try, theres never a dull moment!

Comment:

I'm really happy that I took this art history class. I love to get things out of my class, not just good grades. His lecture is fantasric, and has stories that really help you to remember. Really you can learn more from just attending the class than even reading the book (although you should). Took summer class, just three tests, still an A.

Pretty decent art instructor. He can be very critical, so don't take anything he says with offense, because he's definitely here to help you. The whole semester he got on me about "shading with the same shades of gray" which got kinda frustrating, so it can be hard depending on your skills. Music is played during draws. Patricia Wood is a much better professor. Samborski skips around the textbook, and that's if he uses it. His lectures and slides have absolutely nothing to do with the exams. He's a very mean guy. Your grade solely depends on 3 exams; no extra credit and no homework. You will regret taking this guy.

Dan is an excellent Art History teacher. He brings passion, opinion, and a deep knowledge of the subject - You will NOT be bored in this class! I went in expecting only to fulfill a GE requirement but came away with a real appreciation for art. If you are late to class, the password to get in is.... well, you'll have to figure that out yourself.

On the quirky side, but that is what I enjoyed! He plays music during class that students bring in and most of it keeps the classroom environment very light and airy. Of all the professors I have had his tips are the ones I find myself continuing to use more often than the others!

I took his 8 week class. 3 hours of long lectures with an abundance of material. Note taking the whole time when he's not making jokes (pretty chill guy).Grade based all on 3 tests. Not too hard if you review notes and chapters. Memorization required for art slides, but again not that hard. Also has review days before every test. Learned alot!

I can't even explain how much he has helped me. I have never had an art teacher that has been this helpful. He actually takes time to get to know his students. He has humor. He is not an easy A but that's because you have to put in EFFORT. He likes quality, un-rushed work. If you aren't willing to give that, then do not take this class.

Interesting teacher. A lot of interesting tidbits related to history but unhelpful for exams. Graded only on three tests, thrilled for first two and 4x on the final exam then move the point two places. Poof! Your final grade is it.

Rude, arogant, self absorbed. 3 hour boring monologue.Does not take role or take the time to get to know his students. Spends too much time talking about himself. Has no syllabus, study notes,or schedule. Writes everything on the board and you better be able to write quickly. Does not like anyone asking questions. HUGE dissapointment!

Prof Samborski is straight forward and is awesome. The lecture for the most part is a monologue, so pay close attention. He writes what he is going to cover on the board, make sure to capture it before class and then take notes as he lectures. No homework due, but you better read ahead so you know what he's covering in lecture and will test on.

Took his ARTHIST class in the summer. He's a cool guy but very blunt. Class consisted of lecture (note taking is a must) and slides. Didn't use the textbook much. He prepares you well for the test with his lectures so you know exactly what to study.

I'm in the midst of this character. I'm senstitive plus I have zero natural ability in drawing. I spend 5 hour per drawing and he says it looks rushed. He kinda helps, he's somewhat unclear sometimes. He's rude and arrogant but he's not a total jerk. He pushes you to do your best, so that's good. I just wish he'd teach techniques a little better.
