Not the best professor I've had for CS... Not very helpful nor lenient. Avoid if you can.

Where do I begin? I have taken this professor twice now, and each class was an online course. He rarely responds to emails, and when he does it's at least a week later. He gives unclear instructions and I learned most of my coursework through forums online. Knowing how to write basic code prior to taking the course was extremely helpful.

he is kind of like a funny old hippy programmer. A funny guy which helps the class, but tends to get confused easily when he is asked a question. The concepts were tough to grasp, but he did a decent job explaining them. The book was very helpful, don't expect any help through email though. It was an easy A though, and I took him for 360 as well.

Online class is a nightmare. Nonexistent help from the professor, even when emailing him directly. Instructions are poorly written and not clear. I find better information online through Google searches than I have gotten from this class. Only reason I'm taking it is for credit. I hope he reads this and improves class.

Though this is an online class, teaching is non-existent as minimal directions are provided - insufficient to complete assignments.

The lectures consist of slideshows with the summary at the end of each book chapter copied and pasted into them, then read aloud and nothing more. By the time our chapter 12 assignment was due, only chapter 2's lecture was up for viewing. When I went in for student hours, he said he "wouldn't change my code," and refused to explain the material.

If this is your 1st programming course theny.. you might want to take it with a different teacher. Let me put it this way in class, he will say " I am here to help you succeed, so please if you have questions come see me after class" FALSE. he will tell you to check in the book. Ask your fellow students for help?.. Great thanks for the help prefess

Cooper is my all time least favorite teacher at FLC. He didn't grade any assignments until the 11th week(16 total) except for the first two. The final is handwritten and consisted of mostly 10-15 point questions but the last one was 30 and on a topic we spent 1 week on. He takes a significant amount of points off of homework for the dumbest reasons

Nice guy with a sense of humor. He gives good help during office hours and via email. Lectures were good at beginning of semester when we reviewed stuff from the prereq, but didn't cover the newer, harder things nearly as well. Tests were alright, not too hard, but took time to complete.

Textbook heavy course. Must be able to self teach/search the web for help. There aren't any notes to go along with assignments. There were modifications to assignments that were not in the book which caused confusion. He does take a long time to grade assignments and I found the written final quite difficult. However I could have studied better.

Takes at least 3 weeks to grade assignments. Final is ridiculous. It is handwritten so if you are slow to write by hand you are going to have a tough time.

I took CISP 300 & 360, one being online. Online 360 was rough, because he doesn't reply to emails (emailed 1x total). I found online help (Google) and managed to get an A. 300 was okay and he was a lot more helpful, but I only got a B. Very heavy textbook use for both. In programming, if you plan to move on, you must be able to teach yourself well.

Very late to release information and when he did it was often wrong. Late to grade and respond to requests. Appears to not take interest in his job but there for paycheck. No flexibility with scheduling conflicts.

Would probably be tough classes without any programming prior but good to learn web programming and great value. Both were online classes so not a lot of interaction with instructor. he did answer emails (sometimes sent twice). I thought he had great book selection and he had good clear learning objectives.

He has high expectations but he is very helpful (sometimes have to stay after class to ask for specific help). Ultimately, he will care about your grade if you do.

Not terribly difficult. It does require critical thinking and knowing how to use online resources to obtain results. Practical application of learned concepts may make it difficult for people who are not self starters. Do not procrastinate, do your research and ask questions: you should do just fine.

Great teacher. If you need help just ask. this is not a class you can slack of in. you gotta do the work and come to class. he's kinda funny and his classes are not boring and you will actually learn. I would take him again for a different course if i could.
