Dr. Bains is a very knowledgeable and intelligent professor, however, his lectures are very dry and frequently go over the student's head. His is a kind man and often gives helpful feedback on assignments, however, the three tests are extremely difficult (lots of material, very specific), and many people in the course felt ill-prepared.

Took world religions but I dropped it. His lectures stray away from the powerpoint a lot and its really hard to keep track of where he is going because he is all over the class room writing stuff on any and every bored. He does know his stuff though. He is incredibly intelligent just really hard

Dr. Bains definitely knows what he's talking about. I don't remember him ever not knowing the answer to a question. Although there is A LOT of assigned reading, tests never covered as much as we were supposed to read. He grades short answer questions and essays leniently, because he looks to see what you DO know- not what you don't.

Loved this class! Dr. Bains is a great professor! He is hard and will challenge you to do your work and learn the material. But that is what college is. If you want an easy out, don't take Bains and transfer. He will help you as long as you are willing to work too.

I loved Bains' class in intro to philosophy. Professor Bains definitely knows what he is teaching on world religions. I definitely learned a lot about different religions and how the teachings of some religions refute how the media portrays them. Professor Bains maybe somewhat monotonous though but other than that, he is good.

Professor Bains was very knowledgeable about his subject & I enjoyed how he forced the students to attend various religious services outside their own. Just go to class, take notes, do the work and you'll be fine.

Yeah, he's definitely quirky, but he was always very helpful. If you do the reading, you can follow his lectures and do well on the tests. I got so much from his class.

While he is extremely intelligent, I found his class to be horribly boring. He rarely gave us any place for discussion and instead lectured. It seemed as though he cared nothing about the subject. Tests expected us to know EVERYTHING on the study guide. From talking with him, he isn't as boring as his class; I wish he would change that.

Sub-par professor. Lectures are extremely difficult to takes notes on and the tests are some what random. He is a favorite of the fellows and students who really care about the course a lot. The average student should never take his classes.

incredibly boring...he's a cute little dorky man but he is incredibly boring. you don't have to listen in class as long as you compile a significant amount of information based of his study guide before the test.

Ah, Dr. Bains... an interesting little man. Reminds me of an older Matthew Broderick, although not nearly as animated. His lectures are hard to take notes on, but if you listen you should do well. I quit reading the assigned reading a month after the class started and I still made an A.

Comment:
When I had him, Dr. Bains was clueless about how to teach. His lectures were dry and droning, and the tests were ridiculously hard. He wasn't helpful outside of class, and was overly critical on things that were virtually insignificant.
