Sadly I made the mistake in taking this professor again. I took his SOC 150 class which was great and an easy A. I decided to take his CJS350 and I regret it ! He is a tough grader. Essay due every week and if its not in APA or in an exact format he gives you a low grade. Terrible professor doesnt explain how to do APA.

Comment:

As a first-time Freshmen, I was scared of the class. However, it was my favorite class this semester. He did give a quiz for ever chapter, but he made the class fun. Only had two projects, and they were hard, but fun to do. He was funny and very helpful. Cares about his students. but don't piss him off.

Great professor! He really takes the time to make you understand, there for you and provides help for those in criminal justice. Extra credit was available and grades fairly, his test are long but prepares you well for them. Overall, he makes his class feel comfortable and has a hilarious personality, definitely respected by students. TAKE HIM !

Dr. James Dave Ballard is a great professor! He is hilarious and approachable! He reaponds to e-mails. A lot of Homework and required Reading but it's doable. He lectures from PowePoint and makes them available on Moodle. You must utilize Moodle. Participation matters!! Overall, Dr. Ballard is a great professor. I recommend him!

Amazing professor!! I loved his lectures, he's hilarious. Def a lot of reading and homework. He gives plenty of extra credit (make sure you do all of it). He's always available through email and is very helpful if you see him during his office hours. I wish he taught more classes he's the absolute best professor.

I've taken Prof. Ballard for both Soc 150 & most recently, Soc 202. Prof. Ballard is well invested in his students and is more than willing to help in any way he can-via email, office hours, etc. Everytime I emailed him, I would get an answer by the end of the day which is amazing. You do have to work for an A in his class but I learned a lot!

Ballard was well prepared. He had the whole semester set up before it even started. There's an assignment due every Sunday, make sure you don't miss it. Theres3 exams and a final paper. Some of the assignments were a bit difficult for me, but the exams and paper saved my grade believe it or not. He lets you know how you should correct assignments

Such a nice professor. i would definitely recommend going into office hours and chatting with him. He is a very intelligent man and would love to help!!! Tests are tricky because you have to apply soc to real world but go to class and you will do fine! Pop quizzes are mostly just write your name down on a paper so dont miss those! Interesting class

Loved having him. He only gave pop quizzes when a lot of kids are absent but the quizzes are super easy as I yake a paper out and write ur name on it (literally our tests sometimes lol). But his class is very interesting and he kept me laughing :)

He is a great professor. I learned a lot attending his class. Most of his power points are based off the book he just goes into more depth. Make sure you learn the vocabulary well. His assignments are fairly easy and he doesn't grade them too harshly. Big lecture hall, but don't be afraid to raise your hand.

Dr. Dave is awesome!! He's a funny guy and always makes class interesting. One of the best professors at CSUN! He's extremely helpful. 3 assignments to help keep grade steady, extra credit, 3 tests that are hard if you don't take the time to study, and a final. Showed up to final and he told the class to leave if happy with their grade. Got an A.

Dr. Dave is so awesome! Seriously one of the best teacher's I've ever had. He's really clear, and cares about his students a lot. He plays music at the beginning of every class, and is so nice! I really really really recommend him! Super easy class. He didn't even make our class take the final.

OMG! Hurry. .Take him! Take him for summer/winter classes! I just took his winter class and he is a sweet heart. You will learn about data analysis, terrorism and cyber crime.
