Comment:
Professor Engerman is no doubt a good lecturer. However, he does not seem to be bothered about student learning. If you seek his help, he is often not helpful, and instead when you go to him the next time with difficulties, his response is usually that that issue has already been discussed multiple times before. So, it is always the student's fault

While the course material was often dry, Professor Engerman's style of lecturing and engagement of class discussion both greatly helped to make the subject material understandable. He is also an incredibly nice person and is a good person to chat with.

interesting class/materials...terrible professor...does not help with rewriting, has favorites, thinks all his students know just as much as he does on each topic (if we did, why would we take the class?!)... do not take this class.

he's so creative with his use of materials, like using music, video, photos in his lectures to get a deeper understanding of a time period than one can get from books alone. he looks at history as a set of paradoxes, very interesting way to think about it

Good guy, weak class. I got an A- because I can't write for ****. Simple memorization for the tests: just bull**** and name-drop.
