One of the most boring classes I've had at WSU. I'm a sociology major so I have a lot of interest in the subject, but he does nothing to make his lectures engaging, they were just repetitive and dry. No powerpoints, no textbook, just him sitting and talking in the front of the room. I got an A in this class but I feel like I didn't learn anything.

I do not understand the complaints about boring this and that. The professor makes it interesting, if your reason to go to college is to learn. He gives wonderful examples and analogies about the material. T/F tests are frustrating, but I think he does it because he wants you to pay attention to the details. Go to class and learn . Great Proff!

Gigantic lecture class. The content is boring, and he admits that the first day. He tends to yell and ramble during lectures. All his quizzes/tests are straight from the notes, but based on the stupidest, smallest details. (Was the person Austrian or Australian?) Make sure you go to class, pay attention, and study; otherwise, you'll do poorly.

Hate lecture classes, and thats what his were all lecture. Good thing is no homework and no textbook! Just need to study notes before quizes. Bad thing everything is based off of quizzes and final! AND everything and I mean EVERYTHING is true false. Which I didn't care for.

Dr. Orenstein is awesome! I took him in the summer and although the material is boring, if you just study the notes (which are online) you will get an A. Sparknote the books and you'll be fine. Only 5 20-quiestion True/False exams. No comprehensive final in the summer, but I heard there is one if you take him during the year.

I hate philosophy and I loved Dr. Orenstein. He's very laid back and posts his lectures on PPT online. Few texts: Art of War, etc. Very flexible when grades were due in that he was willing to work with us during winter quarter. Easy quizzes if you read & easy exams if you studied!

This seemed like an easy class at first. You don't have homework. Your midterm is take home and so is your final. The dumb thing about this class was even if you got a good grade on the midterm which is a paper he takes it out and your final grade is all based on your final take home paper. I ended up getting a C in the class and I'm an A/B student

Dr. Orenstein is an uncommonly intelligent man; genius, in fact. However, this ability to remember everything about every thing leads him to give T/F quizzes in which you are expected to remember unimportant details about important things. The minutia was overwhelming (though I still earned an A). I would recommend recording the lectures.

Interesting class and teacher. Attendance is not mandatory but if you want a A you need to be at every class, as 75% of the quizzes/test were taken the lecture and 25% from the text. I took this class in the Summer-would have enjoyed this one over a longer term. Gives T and F tests, which can be frustrating at times, but all the same, I earned A.

The class was over the summer, so attending class isn't thrilling. Not absolutely necessary, but highly recommended for A. He clarifies things & makes it nearly impossible to get anything less. Read notes & know if there's any day to attend class, it's the day before the exam. That's where he ends the notes & otherwise you don't know...

I've taken Dr. Orenstein for several classes and think he is a great professor. This guy can do the entire lecture off the top of his head, he is intelligent. Tests are essays and will be your entire grade, but i recommend him to anyone who wants to learn from someone who truly knows their stuff.

Dr. Orenstein is a good teacher; subject material is slightly boring though. Would highly recommend taking him for the Liberal Arts research method requirement. Go to class, study the notes, and the T/F quizzes will be fairly easy. Despite intense study, some questions on the quizzes were a bit tricky. No extra credit or curves given.

Nice guy though can be very boring. He trys to make jokes though only the older adults usually find them funny. Quizzes can be tricky but even if you fail all of them you still pass the class if you pass the final. Posts all his notes online. Chances are if you don't have interest in this subject you will find this class horribly boring. I did.

Ignore all negative ratings on this professor. He is the best professor at WSU. His voice is monotone but you go to class do what you're suppose to do and you'll get an A, easy. I've had him for SOC 200, SOC 330, and PHL 472. 3 A's.

I had him for Philosophy of Social Science. My advice would be to not go to class, his voice makes you want to die. He's funny sometimes, but you can skip the painful lectures where he gives quizes and instead take the exam at the end.You either get your quiz average OR test for your final grade. But he gives all the notes on the first day! Nice guy.

Goes fast through lectures. Very content-heavy Gives weekly true/false quizzes (usually about 20 questions). Usually one or two "gimmies" in the bunch - but one or two that aren't in the powerpoints but were in lecture. Remember: If all parts of the question are true, it's true. If not, it's not. Is interested in helping students succeed
