A total sophist. Has an agenda that has nothing to do with understanding the books we discuss. He will go so far as trying to deny that the text says something it does say, even when somebody quotes the text directly. He is the reason two tutors are needed in seminar.

Phenominal professor and person! He's extremely intelligent, passionate, sensitive, and approachable. If it weren't for Townsend's hospitality and humanity, I may never have felt a part of the St. John's community, which can be very cold and condescending. A truly capital fellow!!!
