An absolute gem once you've taken other chemistry professors. I wish I would've stayed with Exton all year if she taught it.

Tbh, I prefer Exton over some of the other professors that I have had. She makes her expectations clear and tells students what they need to do to succeed. As others said, she isnt the best at teaching, but she manages to get through slides and will ask for any clarifications. She even will devote a few days to explain how to study and learn.

Dr. Exton is fine as a professor. She isn't always super available for students and usually has her TA's deal with everything. In terms of teaching, she does her best to teach a difficult subject. She isn't amazing but she also isn't the worst. Chem is a subject that you really need to study for so attend class!

Dr. Exton is amazing! I've taken the same class from another professor at UO, and the difference is crazy. Dr. Exton is very knowledgeable and passionate about science, and due to her experience teaching (close to 30 years) she knows how to present the topics in a clear and interesting way, while cutting out all the unnecessary information.

You learn a lot if you really put in the effort. There is ton of help available all of the time and she cares about your grade. Grades go in pretty quick. Listen to the tips about how to study. Do what you're supposed to do from the start and you'll earn the grade you want!

There is a huge curve in this class, homework heavily boosts your grade and Exton is an AMAZING teacher. She also teaches you HOW to be a better learner which is great for first term college students.

Deborah is an amazing teacher, who really understands the craft of Chemistry. She really wants to help her students learn, however the content is insanely hard. Read chapters BEFORE going to lecture, their review them again. Her study cycle in her syllabus isn't a joke, I highly recommend following it. Overall great class, just be prepared.

Exton is really an amazing professor and wants you to succeed. She gets that chem can be hard to jump into and gives multiple opportunities for you to do well. Sapling, Aleks, and clicker q's make a great grade cushion and will honestly bump your grade up a good 7 percent as long as you complete it all. If you want to succeed in this class you will

I loved Exton's way of teaching. The class is hard but going to class and taking good notes will get you a good grade. The exams reflect the clicker questions in class along with a few about the concepts learned in class and are not terribly difficult.

Dr. Exton is a very sweet and caring person. She is extremely approachable and loves it when students ask her questions. She won't be annoyed if you ask something stupid. The lectures seem pretty long, but she keeps them interesting; she puts a lot of memes in her slideshows. Success in the course takes effort, but is very possible.

Deborah is great. 20/10, would recommend. Super fun, wears costume on halloween. Tests are hard, just study. Read the book! Preview and review. Go to office hours if needed, she's fun. Don't skip any ALEKS or Sapling, trust.

Very hard course. Be sure to show up to each class to get credit and do all of the homework. Read the textbook outside of class and probably get a tutor too because it's fast paced and easy to get behind.

She expects her students to be very knowledgeable about chemistry from the start. She wrote the textbook but she never referenced it. By far the hardest class I have ever taken and I would not recommend unless you NEED it for your major. Tests are extremely hard and you will constantly be doing online homework every week. Falling behind is SO easy!

Final grade relies heavily on the midterms and final, but if you can follow along in class you will do fine. You do have to study, but there's not many topics that are hard to understand. There's lots of office hours you can go to and SUPERchem helps a lot.

Dr. Exton is super passionate about teaching and wants her students to succeed. Do the online homework on time so you don't fall behind in the class and always do the practice exams before taking her tests. It's a challenging class, but if you pay attention and put the effort into it, it'll be worth your while.
