Comment:

Terrible photography professor. She gave the credit irrationally, extremely bias with unclear, irrelevant and unconstructive feedbacks. If she doesn't like you, she just gives you bad credits with unclear reasons. I regretted of taking her class as my last class before graduation because it is the only class without A/A+ and I could no more get 4.0

Comment:

Harsh grading for no reason. Gives assignments back with points missing REGARDLESS of whether or not you did 100% correct. Always finds something to take points off of. E.g. I turned in a 2 question response about a favorite photographer and got docked for untyped. No where in her verbal or written instruction was I told to to type it up.

Theres a decent amount of work, which is fine, but Ms. Pierce is really boring and her voice drones on and on. She is not open to different points of view and is definitely not patient when people dont immediately understand something. I probably would not take another class with her.

Ruthless. Will grade your projects with no remorse, very limited time to complete projects. Stress guaranteed. Perfectionists stay away, this class is for those who can appease the teacher swiftly and care less about their work. Very crippling to the true artist, stay far far away.

I switched my major from PHTG to F/TV due to Pierce. She's culturally insensitive. Discussing an assignment in her office she was totally unprofessional and rude. Go to the Dean and complain! Sadly PHTG classes aren't even needed. I learned more from youtube and adobe's website how to use photoshop and lightroom.

Comment:

One of my favorite professorsclasses of the quarter. Some might take it as an easy A, which is true, but at the same time, Pierce truly pulls you into photographic history and concepts. You feel like you're being taught by a friend or colleague. Recommended.

Her class is easy, but she is boring and rude. She sometimes looks down on students, and she is unfair with someone she does not like. I saw some cases in her class about it, and my friends say same things. I do not recommend her.

Avoid this prof. You can learn more about photoshop and lightroom via youtube and adobe's free web tutorials. She can be rude and mean to students. If you have something to discuss with her, make sure to do it in front of other students since she can be rude and unprofessional.

Diane is dull. Her photography inspires ennui. She is a nice enough person but lectures are scant -- many classes were strictly lab w/o lecture at all. She seems enthused about photography but otherwise, this is a boring class -- barely worth the time.

Diane is a really kind and helpful teacher. If you are taking the class as a hobby you will definitely enjoy the class, if you need to take the class for your major, you will learn a lot. She's really really nice and helpful. I have been doing photography as my job since 2000 and I learned a lot.

First of all, I dont know what everyone is talking about. She is extremely boring and she looks like shes unhappy all the time.If she doesnt like you, you'll know, she will fail you on everything,she doesnt care to help you, or recognize if your trying, she will just fail you and make you feel like a horrible student.please avoid taking her class.

Really easy teacher! her lectures are interesting enough. If you do everything she asks for (which really isn't that much) you'll get an A. Her Mid term was long but if you study at least an hour you can get a good grade. Projects include taking pictures but she accepts any kind of camera and is very flexible. You don't need to be very artistic.

She's really nice and her class is pretty cool but nothing too exciting. I do not recommend taking this class in the morning, it's really hard to stay awake. Keep up with readings and you'll do fine on the midterm/final. Assignments are easy.

By far the best of the teachers I've had in the photo dept., though she has her quirks. (An MFA in phtg and she doesn't know that bokeh is a Japanese term?) I wish she allowed us to follow her steps in LR while she explains things, but she seems to think that we wouldn't be listening (or something).

This was an awesome class. I learned so much in her class and she is very passionate in Photography so it definitely makes learning much more interesting. I definitely recommend Professor Pierce as your Photography teacher.
