Archibald, a kind old man. His favorite pastimes are yelling at you, asking you questions when he knows you don't know the answer, and ignoring all of your questions. Luckily the grading methods used for this class are easy to understand (NOT). You will have no idea what to do on the field trips and will probably cry. Enjoy!

Terrible Class, terrible professor. If you think that this class is going to suck, then you're right and if you don't like what he is he teaching you probably shouldn't be in geological engineering.

My first impression of this course was that it was going to be awful. Turns out, I was right. After a semester of being yelled at, many kilometers of walking in the ditch and several written reports it finally hit me how much I had learned. This course will teach you the most out of all of your classes, however, it's not fun while you're in it.

In hindsight, forcing students to answer their own questions and solve their own problems is the best possible life training. Later in life nobody will spoon-feed you. Good man and I learned from him.

Very hard course. Expects most material to be learned individually and gives very vague instructions of what needs to be done. Still, course is structured well and kept interesting. Probably the most stressful class I've taken so far. You have to write a 10 page report on what geology you saw on a field trip every week, except you saw nothing.

Nothing in class is helpful for the reports that are due EVERY week, the three labs at the end of the course finally explain how you should have been doing everything throughout the semester that you got wrong. Only take this course if it is mandatory, and hope you don't fail (as there is a oral exam worth 13% of your mark, yikes).

This course is tough, and at first he seems like a careless prude. But he grew on me and now I quite like him - he insults you because you don't know the answer, but then giggles about it and as you watch his mustache wiggle you can't be mad!

Archibald is great. You want to throw something at him at first there is no doubt about that, but by field school you'll realize that he really isn't that bad and is actually quite hilarious. Just don't go to him for help. He does more confusing than helping. The labs are tiring and as someone mentioned before, they really aren't worth that much.

Ooo Archie... This class takes you on a wild ride through the bush and he is a mumbler (aka be within 2 foot distance when he speaks) he did give out some breaks on the final by basically putting the same q's as the years before. Overall not bad but labs are time consuming and worth next to nothing in the end

I think he'd rather laugh at you fumbling in the bush than actually help you out, but that makes a winner in my book.
