Comment:
Professor Husak is brilliant, genuine, and assigns incredibly contemporary philosophy to read. I wish he would ask more directed questions ("what do you think of this?" is the one he says most often) but discussion is stellar nonetheless. Graded only on 2 exams and a paper, and if you don't attend the lectures you won't understand anything. TAKEHIM

This class was definitely challenging, as you're grasping very abstract material the whole year. Only have two tests and a paper, but anyone interested in wondering if we have free will, let alone moral responsibility, should take this class.

5th year at Rutgers, and Husak is definitely in my top 3 prof. IDEK what it is abt him that is so inspirational. Perhaps its that he's charismatic and funny and freaking brilliant!! SUPER WELL KNOWN, very distinguished in his field. As for class structure, its discussion based, go to class! 2 exams, 1 paper. Not the easiest class, but worth taking!

I've had him for two classes (Moral Responsibility and Philosophy of Law) and he's one of my favorites. Has commonsense views, explains things in relatively commonsense ways, and is genuinely interested in talking to you during office hours. Midterm, paper, final. You don't have to read if you show up.

He is a tough grader but this is a cool course where you will learn many perspectives on moral responsibility. The reading is reasonable (50-100 pgs/wk) He clearly wants to help all students; there is a lot of discussion within the class. Brilliant man and he uses the first 10 min to discuss whatever is on his mind (unrelated to philosophy)

Husak cares a lot about his students and takes their concerns into consideration when guiding the course. If you tell him something is difficult, contentious or worth reconsidering then he will do that. He quickly shuts down the stupid comments that most professors let drag on unless the person is so far off that he wants to help them.

While a bit condescending at times, Husak's class was very interesting and fairly easy. Discussions were interesting but he seemed to have a hard time getting my class to participate.

Wonderful professor. He is so knowledgeable and always straight forward. The questions that are on the midterm and final is exactly from what we talk about in class. Do the readings, and go to class engage in discussions and you can easily get an A with him. He's also very helpful during office hours!

Douglas Husak is my favorite Rutgers University professor. Rather (extremely) knowledgeable and truly an excellent teacher of an interesting topic. My undergraduate experience would have been hopelessly incomplete without his course. Highly recommended.

Great Professor. Took phil of law and he made the class real interesting. Do the reading (not long only 5-15 pgs or so) and you will like the discussions.

Interesting discussions, but the material would have been more interesting if there had been more philosophy (too much law). He was reasonable with attendance; I was sick and he didn't even bother to check my doctors note. Attendance was taken but not a stickler. I didn't have to go but went anyway. Hard final, but generous grader. A+ professor

One of the most caring professors ever. He cares for the class (comes well prepared) cares for his students (is concerned everyone understands) addresses all questions. EXTREMELY intelligent - can explain very clearly what the issue is. I love all his classes (took several now)

Ethics thru history. The discussion makes the class seem retarded at times; he allows people to continue speaking even when they have nothing to say. Hence, the class can be deceivingly hard because you may not take it seriously. That being said, the grading is very fair. Take good notes, unlike me, and you should get a relatively easy A.

Awesome class. Two tests and a paper but none that were too hard. Really knows his material and quick to admit when he is not absolutely sure of the answer. Allows for a lot of discussion which is great. Take this class. Certainly worth the work, even as a graduating senior

had him for ethics through history. great man, he deserves everyone's respect. really funny, too. wants to legalize a lot if not all drugs, very interesting. had 1 final, 1 midterm, 1 paper. final+midterm were hard, and he hardly responds to emails. they're hard cuz he only asks you about a few of the readings (about 30-40 readings total)
