One discussion post each week. They weren't difficult. You don't need to read the book, but you do need it for the discussion posts and the midterm/final. The midterm/final were both open note and open book and were only 30 questions. This class wasn't hard and is an easy A. He also gives extra credit throughout the semester.

Dr. Sutton is great. Makes class interesting and bearable. On speeches for 3700- when going over main points, hold up 1, 2, and 3 fingers for each point ("my first point is.."). lost 20 points for not doing so the first time. midterm and final are pretty easy online essays

Dr. Sutton is a great teacher& is very clear on expectations. Always there during office hours& is really helpful if you go. I recommend at least going to introduce yourself to him one day he really appreciates it bc he says many people don't utilize office hours. Midterm & final were both an essay. I will definitely take him again when possible.

Everyone loves this guy but I don't know why. He gives tons of busy work like his class is the only one you are taking. He grades assignments and doesn't give any creative criticism. I dropped one of his classes because of the busy work and the fact that he believes he is a stand-up comedian but I had no choice this semester. Not impressed.

Such a smart and awesome guy! Very funny and makes class interesting... Test are open note and book but still difficult and by no means easy. Love this class and teacher... definitely going to try to get him again if I can!!

Sutton is my FAVORITE professor I've had at Auburn! This class was a TON of work, but it was busy work. It wasn't hard. If you're a good writer he's perfect! No tests, 4 speeches, OPTIONAL attendance except speech days, online essay final but 3 writing assignments due PER WEEK. That was the hardest part, but otherwise was a ton of fun. TAKE HIM!

I have taken Dr. Sutton for COMM 2010, COMM 3450, COMM 3110, and COMM 4100. He is by far my favorite teacher and is super funny, and also very smart. All of his classes require different degrees of critical and analytical writing for ALL of your work so if writing is not your thing I would not recommend him, but if it is, it's an easy A!

Sigh, such high hope for this teacher before the semester. The guy is funny, no doubt. However, his class was all read a story/article/book/ etc. and write a response. No conversation of relevant info took place in the class. Just crude humor. Easy enough to get through and maybe he should just not teach Arg. Discourse? Idk. Would not take again.

Enjoyed the class but not the material. It was about rhetoric? Thought we would be learning how to better write speeches. Quizzes every class so go to class. You can make up missed quizzes with excuse or for half credit. Weekly reflections are a pain, online news articles due weekly. You also have to do questions evaluating essays 2'xs a week

I took Speaking Before Audiences thinking I would learn to be a better speaker, false. The class was interesting to go to but it wasn't very helpful, can't really tell you anything I learned however Dr. Sutton is great and is easy to talk to and I really enjoyed his class.

All of the assignments are so easy to do. Class discussion is very interesting. The only problem is the final is 50% of your grade, and the test was only 25 questions. Dr. Sutton is a great teacher, I highly recommend.

Sutton is a great teacher. The only problem with this class is that he requires a whole lot of work throughout the semester. And there is only one cumulative exam for the entire course. Even if you have made perfectly on all assignments, you can easily blow your grade with this one exam. Two or three exams would be much better.

He is THE MOST HILARIOUS teacher I have ever had. One of the best teachers at Auburn, if not THE BEST. He makes all readings clear and enjoyable. It is not hard to do well in this class either. If the man ever decided to quit teaching he could totally make it as a comedian. :)

Dr. Sutton is AWESOME! He makes class enjoyable and is very structured, so you know what to expect. He does everything by points, so class isn't mandatory but it takes away from your final point count. The only test is the final which covers everything, but if you do the weekly assignments you could get an A without it.

Dr. Sutton is the best professor ever! Everyone should try to take him as many times as possible. I was very hesitant about this class before the semester got started, by a few weeks into the course I enjoyed it. I definately recommend any course Dr. Sutton teaches!

This has been my favorite class at Auburn so far. The class is very long but he does everything to make it fun. He is very lively, comedic, down-to-earth. His notes are exactly what is on the test and he even gives study guide questions. If you attend/ take notes and study you will make an A!

oh dr. sutton... he makes my wednesdays better. i was pissed at 1st b/c this class was during chapter, but it was totally worth it. he makes me work really hard for an A, but it seriosuly has made me better as a writer. my roomie and i have a quote list going from class, he is so freakin hilarious i promise!!
