Smart but Incredibly pretentious professor. Not necessarily a hard class but he definitely expects student to know an inordinate amount of irrelevant information for their debate topics. If you want a professor who will evaluate you on what 682 should actually be about, explore other options.

Sorensen offered a new option this semester, to not do the debate or paper and instead have the tests count for double and receive a maximum grade of a B. Read the cases and participate in class, as every comment is worth extra points. Debates are rough, so be prepared for questions. Test questions are very random case study facts- read carefully

Professor Sorensen is a great professor, tough and very fair. 6 case studies are used in the class to help boost your grade up. The first 3 will be on the midterm and the last 3 will be on the final. Participation extra points! Debates were very tough. Absolutely go to office hours for your debate topic. He tells you everything you need to know!

I'll tell you right now, this professor curves the class quite a lot. And If you post on the forum weekly it adds up to A LOT of extra credit. I will say his debate topics are outdated and he grills the hell out of you. When you present you have to know EVERY SINGLE LITTLE DETAIL about your topic because he enjoys making student look clueless.

Prof. Sorensen acknowledges hard work. He has high standards and expects a high level of readiness in class. He is VERY supportive and is always available to help you. If you are a serious student, I suggest you take him. He is challenging but motivating ! Spend EXTRA time on debate research and be sure to participate! You will be glad you did.

During the debate, if you aren't prepared, you will get owned. You won't get points unless you participate in case studies. Nitpicks about formatting in the papers, he's an economist not an English teacher. Research paper? Not really, he should call it a lit review. 1 impossible midterm, 4 quizzes, case studies, group debate, 1 research paper

Professor Sorensen gives you a chance to earn your worth in this class. He helps students engage in debate and the ultimate result is to learn skills practiced in the real world. More importantly, every class added value to my education. If I had a chance to take a course with him again, I sure would.

Half of the semester, I hated this guy. He embarrasses students who come to class unprepared, doesn't lecture ("This is a seminar class, YOU STUDENTS talk"), and veers off topic. I still don't know what that class was about. Halfway in, I started asking him specifically what he wanted and ended up with a B. He has an ego but just play into his game

Class format: 2 midterm based on textbook case studies( 4 business case studies) 4 online quizzes. and Team Debate presentation + 10 written paper research about your debate. The professor tend to fail everyone in the first Exam. However, the first exam is only 10% of you total grade. Do good in your debate and you will pass. Key: Office Hours

DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! He grades so hard, failed almost the whole class in the midterm. The class discussions are interesting but he expects a lot from his students. I don't recommend him at all!!!

Worst Professor ever! He likes to talk about his childhood struggles and how he was fortunate that he went to Cal and some catholic high school. He tends to act like he's right 99% of the time. He's never satisfied with the research paper, debate, exam questions, and the case discussions . The Research Paper is 7-10 pages, single space.

There is an in class debate and he is just BRUTAL. oh and for your debate research do work and meet with him this guy will not pull any punches when he grills you. Again do not take him. My most hated class ever!

Come prepared to talk/participate. This class isn't easy but totally doable as long as you put the work in. Many failed the first midterm-but don't worry, there are a lot of points you can get in this class. Do the extra credit(online posts, talk in class), find a good debate group. Know your topic or he'll embarrass you.

Sorensen is the strictest professor I've ever had. He's a very tough grader on midterms, finals, and the debate. Make sure you know the topic of your debate really well, every nook and cranny. He grills you hard on your topic. Sometimes it feels like you're being interrogated. Take this class with caution.

He failed over 50% of the class on the first exam. Be prepared to write a lengthy paper, 1.25 hour debate, and purchase an expensive ($200+) book which is rarely used. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this class. He does dress very professionally each class. Read the Syllabus about 10 times before approaching him.

Sorensen is a great teacher. He teaches classes like all classes should be taught. Some people think he is to hard, but come on SFSU its not like its going to be any easier in the real world. If you can't keep up with his class than you might be in the wrong major.

By far one of the best teachers at SFSU. Do not take his class if you want to get an easy A. You will have to work for your grade. Do your home work, show up to class prepared, ask him if you need help and you will do fine. Make sure you pick your debate group carefully and be responsible for your work.
