Professor Davalos was Great and very passionate! Super Easy, just show up to class and some participation. No quizzes, no tests, no book required. Just assignments that you need to do every 2 weeks. Very understanding, very lenient. Definitely recommend.

Easy!! No quizzes and no exams because he says he doesn't believe in testing students. His lectures are boring and lack information but he has students write a weekly report on an article he gives us to choose from. follow the instructions and that's it! he also gives lots of extra credit opportunities, and if you write two reports he'll give E.C

He's the best professor I've ever met. He's the reason I took more Chicano studies classes just to take more classes with him. His classes are pretty interactive and interesting. It's pretty easy pace and he gives reasonable class work, passed his classes with A+ even when I took it in Honors.

professor davalos is pretty chill and funny. his accent is thick so may not be easy for students that dont speak spanish because he likes to sometimes use spanish during his lectures. i would recommend that you go to his office hours often to ask him how to write the reports he assigns. also, he lets people in class talk too much and waste time

Careful with this professor because his grading is very harsh. you will have a lot to read and he likes things only his way. not very open to other points of view. tries to make you swallow your heritage throughout the course

Class can get a bit loud as he lets people have conversations during his lectures. he puts up with a lot in class and sometimes can get boring during lectures. solid course material and lots of extra credit opportunities. his grading is hard but just ask him for feedback. no tests at all. just a biweekly report, may have to read a lot though

Professor Davalos is a very smart person that shows through his social justice involvement. His lectures are different and interesting every time. He is kind and easygoing. Sometimes he allows too many small conversations during his lectures. Attendance is mandatory and the biweekly reports are a bit challenging but just ask him for help.

LOVE HIM. Attendance is mandatory if you don't show up it can drop you down a whole letter. we have reports due every other week, other than that NO TEST and its a great easy class teaches you a lot. I recommend you to take his class, as long as you do your work and you show up your solid.

Professor Davalos is one of the best! He's an amazing person who cares about human life. I enjoyed and loved going to his class, very interesting (not boring at all). If you do the work (way less than other professors) you will get an A. I highly recommend his class. God bless him for being awesome!

Comment:

Davalos makes class interesting. I would suggest sitting in the front, because he has a thick accent. He allows a lot of small group and class discussion, he also plays videos to break up the monotony. He has a great sense of humor and there are no tests :)) however, for the reports he assigns, be prepared to read long articles.

I TOOK DAVALOS FOR BOTH CHICANO 141A AND B. SUPER EASY, I LEARNED ALOT FROM THIS CLASS. JUST DO THE ASSIGNEMENTS AND PARTICIPATE IN CLASS DISCUSSIONS AND YOUR GOOD! HIS LECTURES ARE VERY INTERESTING AND HES FUNNY TOO. ALSO GIVES ALOT OF EXTRA CREDIT, VERY NICE TEACHER ALWAYS THERE TO HELP STUDENTS.

I highly recommend him, he's very helpful when you ask, his presentations are long but very interesting, there no test quizzes, or textbook, also as long as you do your work, it's a guaranteed A, because the professor explains the material well, and how to do the assignment. He is also very funny, and his class 0% boring.

Davalos is one Rad professor, he doesn't require a book, no testes, his reading are interesting, presentations are fun and the service learning for the class is something to look forward because there is many cool things to do for this project. The guy is really funny and give class in spanglish which is really dope! :)

BEWARE, there is work. Attendence is mandatory yet you seldom do anything in class so its easy to get caught behind in all the readings. Discusions can get intresting so SPEAK UP to keep them going. Extra credit is uberly abundent so don't trip if you miss one or two -or 10- readings. He falls behind in grading which is a plus for procrastinators.

Amazing professor, very passionate about his job. There will be plenty of reading and class discussions but it's very simple. Very humble and caring. Definitely learned a lot and helps you identify yourself with your culture. Also he does give points for attendance so attend class. Replies back to emails and provides feed back about reports fast.
