Jumps right into Law School mode and expects you to follow her like a little duckling. NOT an insult. Her method works. You are lucky to have her as your 1L writing prof. All other 1L's leave their first semester with abilities well beneath yours. You are graded individually, on YOUR own effort. First semester is designed to prepare you for the 2d.

Comment:
Unfair grading - Professionalism points are NOT participation based and are highly subjective. Assignments given haphazardly without notice. Instructions for assignments are placed everywhere, are hard to access and find, and her requirements change from what has been posted for weeks to comments she makes in class the day before the assignment.

I'll say this: she will, without a doubt, get you to be an effective legal writer. That said, it'll probably take twice as long as necessary to get there. She gives little positive feedback, and has a habit of making you feel stupid for asking questions. Makes simple lessons convoluted. I'm not sure she likes her job or her students much.

She is horrible. Don't take her. She will trash your GPA without giving it a second thought. If you are not one of her favorites, good luck. Nothing will save you. She is not helpful at all. You MUST stroke her ego to do very well in her class.

Horrid. A Living, Delusional Nightmare. Terrible. Has no place in any classroom, anywhere. Disgrace to education. Should be relieved of her duties.

If you happen to be in Professor Reilly's class expect to leave the semester with improved writing skills. I can honestly say I am a better writer because of her and her class. On the other hand, she is a tough grader, rude and degrading. She has absolutely no respect for her students. I've often left her office feeling depressed and humiliated.

TURN BACK NOW. Seriously do everything you can to be transferred out of this class. She is AWFUL. She constantly changes the criteria for assignments the day before they are due. She is very rude, degrading, and unhelpful. You will learn nothing in this class and your future law career will suffer tremendously because of it.

To the 1Ls that draw Reilly as their LAWR professor: you're either going to have a most valuable education experience...or you're going to be massacred. There is no middle ground. Luckily, the choice is yours. She doesn't play favorites, it just happens the same few people put in 8-10 hours per page per paper. Those people get As. The rest whine.

Reilly's class is the innermost circle of hell Dante forgot about. Never gives you a straight answer to any question, then expects highly nuanced work. Gives surprise assignments that aren't graded, but you have to do them or else you'll lose participation points. Completely arbitrary. Have fun.

Nothing I've learned corresponds to actual legal research and writing. For example, an assignment where she limited the class to using only certain elements of the FMLA as opposed to all the law out there. Long story short, law school is a waste of time.

She is literally the worst professor I have ever had, and this is from someone who works EXTREMELY hard and spent ENDLESS hours editing, stressing, and working on my papers. If you're a a girl, GOOD LUCK! She has a few key favorites (all male), and the rest it's a crap shoot. If you get her, CHANGE YOUR PROFESSOR.

One of the worst professors I've ever had in my college career. She does blatantly play favorites. She gives "tips", but does not teach the information. Her grading scale is a mystery. A student asked in class how her grade corresponded to the A-F scale and the professor responded, it doesn't, so don't try to figure it out. Glad it's over!

Other than bluebook, you will learn nothing from her. Her answers are ambiguous, comments on assignments contradict her in-class instructions, and she blatantly plays favorites. She pushes hard for unpaid clerkships, making it seem as though the employment market is hopeless. I got multiple paid internship offers, without her help!

Reilly definitley plays favorites (just look at ALL the comments). Two students with briefs containing EXACTLY THE SAME substance rec'd two drastically different grades and both students agreed that the forms of each brief weren't that different. She's amazingly picky about the form of questions you ask and never quite answers them.

Class divides on whether she is a good professor with those who do not put in a high level of effort claiming she is a poor professor and those who worked hard claiming she is a good professor. Those who say she picks favorites are full of excuses. I learned a ton, my writing improved tremendously, and she was instrumental in my job search.

She's a mixed bag. If you're one of her favorite students, you're good to go. If not, good luck. She teaches Bluebook citations really well. She has specific expectations for her assignments but doesn't tell you what those expectations are. When she does give instructions, they are confusing and contradictory. She doesn't know how to answer q

She covers a lot of ground quickly. If you want to do well you will have to spend a large amount of time writing and revising your work, and you MUST meet with her. If you don't you'll be lost. Most criticism comes from people who procrastinate and then claim that she plays favorites. If you utilize her as a resource, you will do well.

Those of you who are not one of her favorites, get together and look at the comments she gives for each other's briefs! Screw that COC she makes you do. It's upsetting that we have a R&W professor who doesn't give us the respect we all deserve.

what a deceptive person. don't let her fool you, she's not nice at all. she has a handful of "favorites" in the class (if you've ever waited in line to speak to her in her office, you can identify the HUGE difference in the way she speaks to her "favorites" and those who are not her favorites.) what a terrible first year professor!
