Comment:

Dr. Wheland is a very good teacher. She doesn't assume that you know anything, so she makes sure to explain every step of the problem. Overall, I liked her, however she tends to hold class over quite a bit so I would not schedule any classes immediately after.

Comment:

Professor Wheland, is a very nice lady but taking algebra for calculus with her was horrible. Whenever somebody would raise their hand she would always say wait until the end of class but never answered. she talks very quietly and is horrible at explaining things in a different way. NEVER TAKING HER AGAIN

Dont take unless you have to. It took up most of my energy for the semester from the other classes. She flies over the concepts so you barely have time to copy down the material. Extremely stressful.

Comment:

I rated that I would take again mostly because the course is notoriously difficult that a decent number of students end up taking the class again. Is stringent on quizzes and tests. You can get a question entirely correct, but will miss a point for some arbitrary reason such as your scratch work not done in the right form. Roasts students in class.

Comment:

Dr. Wheland was easily my best professor for freshman year. She always smiled at me if I saw her around campus and genuinely cares about her students and makes an effort to get to know them. Algebra for calc is HARD, don't put it on the backburner. It is very fast paced. I never missed a single class and did well, and understood the material.

Very difficult course. Take this class with easier classes because it will take up A LOT of your time. Also use all your resources to the best of your ability. (homework, worksheet, and reviews are your best friend.) Ethel Is probably the best professor to have for this class because she really likes math and cares about her students.

She is awful, I am only 3 weeks into the semester and I cannot stand going to this class. I tried to start off the semester SO positive, I take every single note, copy everything on the board and I STILL can't get it. I have been to tutoring countless times and she doesn't explain anything. She thinks that since she already knows, so should you.

LOVED HER. She is a sweet lady and is the most intelligent woman. She understands calc is really difficult and she is very willing to help you get through it. It is a hard class to pass, but if you really try and go to her office hours/tutoring, you will be fine. I liked her alot. Study for exams and do the homework. One group project at the end.

shes the best teacher. her class was extremely difficult at times, but she would work with everyone to the best of her ability. everyone is known in class, despite attendance not being necessary. would def take again

Amazing professor, she explained everything really well in her lecture. We took quizzes every week because she wanted us to make sure that we knew how well we were understanding the topic. Always available by email or to visit. I took algebra for calculus and it is a fast paced hard class but I loved her as a teacher.

Ethel is a saint. Everyone loves her. Calculus with Business is a hard class but she helps make it more understandable. Gives study guides that reflect the exams which makes the exams very easy. Cares about her students. Tries to make sure you understand the material, but you have to ask questions in order for this to happen.

If you are mediocare at math, don't take this course. Dr. Wheland is a nice teacher but teaches very fast and I ended up dropping the class. It is a 4 credit class so it is a lot of work. You have quizzes every week that cover a lot of material, so if you skip any of the lectures it's going to be hard to pass.

She is a great lecturer. She thoroughly goes through examples, and it may get boring or repetitive if you understand the content already, but I really appreciate that she does that for those who don't. It is a class you must attend to understand how to do things. Dont waste your money on the book, just buy the access code. She is old fashioned!

She will argue with you if you don't understand a concept. Puts more effort into arguing than explaining. Makes you sit in odd numbered rows to avoid cheating. Don't eat in class; she "can't stand" the noise a wrapper makes in the trash can. Dropped her class after four days. I now have an 96% at the midterm with a different professor. AVOID HER!!

Dr. Wheland is a really great professor in my opinion. She is willing to work with you if you are struggling with a concept. She will go beyond most professors and take the time to make sure you actually understand what is going on.

DO the homework it will help the most! She is a good teacher but she often goes over the material very quickly. She is very organized and cares for her students. There are weekly quizzes and practice worksheets for them... If you do the practice worksheets the quizzes should be a breeze!

Dr. Wheland was a nice professor, it's just that she often went over the material too fast and didn't take much time to explain, even if half the class had no idea what was going on. It was sort of a sink or swim situation, which I understand, it's just that I sank.

Now, I received a good grade in this class. This is not because of Wheland, it's because of me. This professor seems clueless/oblivious. Also, she wasn't the nicest person. Every time I have asked her a question, she did not help. I even asked what sections would be on the quiz and she replied: "I don't know, it's on the syllabus."

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. This class is nearly impossible. Unless you are willing to work on math six hours every day, you will not receive a high grade. The grading is whack and she does not give any help. Nothing what a college professor should be like.
