Paco is great. He has a lot of experience in his field and shares a lot of information and just plain cool stories if you take the time to listen. His lectures can be heavy sometimes but he explains the material very well. Tests focus more on applying concepts than regurgitating memorized info. Great professor. Definitely worth taking his class.

His Evolutionary Bio course was great! DO THE READINGS!! If you read for every class and participate in discussion, you'll get an A. Unlike other classes, if you know the concepts, you'll do well on the test. Memorizing his notes won't really help you. No Textbook!!

If you get a bad grade in his class it's because either you didn't go (attendance not mandatory) or you tried memorizing slide shows.Unlike other bio classes, you will not benefit from memorization. KNOW THE CONCEPTS, the slideshows are there to guide you through them. Listen to his lecture, don't waste time with too many note.

Really cool guy very laid back.Tests are somewhat difficult and he can be a bit unorganized, often doesn't follow material he posts on web so GO TO CLASS.Very intelligent and has a tendency to use technical terms during lecture when using simplified "layman's terms" would be more appropriate to convey important broader concepts

The size of the class dictates his teaching style and we had 200 students. Posted PowerPoints were different from those presented in class. Everything is vague and test questions are ambiguous. I don't think I learned a single thing is this class and got a B. Questions are of the type "pick the best answer" even though more than 1 is correct.

Paco made a class that I did not want to take into an interesting learning experience. I took EvoBio in the summer, and we read papers and discussed them - and that was the majority of your grade. Very refreshing to have an alternative teaching style.

Nice guy, but a poor teacher. Basically gives grades away. His system for giving x-tra credit is rediculous. He would be a good person to have a beer with, but is a horrible teacher. Like most teachers at UA, he's lazy.

He presented the material well to the class, but we got him to change the whole way he taught the class because it was complete crap that he presented the first 3 weeks of class. His tests were easy, but you did not need to show up for class to get A's. He wasn't available much outside of class either. Overall, I did not like him as a teacher.

He is a genuinly nice professor who cares about his subject. The class is not that hard and he actually presents the class with a out line of his lectures. Good class except his tests are a little odd in the wording of questions.
