Comment:
Great to see that Dr Misurella may still be teaching. Your challenge as students is deciphering relevance and context, of which you have little in either case until you are unleashed upon the world and forced to actually sink or swim. 25 years later I find that Dr. Misurella's approach had far more applicability in life than you can even imagine.

There seems to be a good deal of animosity towards Dr. Misurella, but that is strange. He knows what he wants, and he is clear about his expectations. If you slack off, he will not like you. If you do the work and listen at least half of the time, you will easily get a good grade. He is not going to pity-pass you, but in the end you will learn.

I really hate this professor, I think that he needs to make the english class more of and english and not a history. he does not tell you what is wrong and you can not say what you think because you are always wrong no matter what you think.

Anyone looking to go into Journalism should take him. Most who dislike him are simply lazy and do not listen. Extremely helpful and intelligent. He knows what he is talking about, just pay attention.

Very straightforward. At first I thought he was very dry and boring, but actually, he is dry and interesting. Good class, very thorough and crystal clear about expectations. People just aren't listening b/c they will ask a question he already explained about more than once. Has high expectations. Tough grader. But what employer won't be? Realistic.

Bitter old man, jumps down your throat. It's basically an opinion class (reviewing the arts), but any opinions expressed are automatically wrong. No set standard for grading, doesn't tell you what you got wrong or how to improve.

For students interested in either journalism or english, taking class with him is highly recommended. He will challenge you and ultimately make you a better writer. He is fairly attatched to some of his views on literature but who isn't? Class participation is a must in his courses (not for slackers). Very helpful and dedicated to education.

i do not believe this should even be a course. you learn about the same concepts over and over again. he flips out when people do not read which somehow he brings up every class. grades tough on papers, if you just need a lit class i do not recommend him.

The things you have to write about make no sense at all, its rediculus because he makes you write a 3-5 page essay in 50 minutes. If you get this professor for your english comp. class, good luck, you'll need it.

An Idiot. I have won countless writing contests and know more vocab than him, yet I still got a B. Thinks the only word you should use before dialogue is "said". Grades people who are smarter than him more harshly than others. No standard.

Rates every student according to what he feels their ability is and does not have a set standard. Does not believe that personal poetry should have any personal feelings. Believes in objectivity. Gives black students better grades than white students, because he feels they can't write any beter.

Very refreshing approuch to literature. You'll read some great, interesting books. The courseload is pretty heavy, but all the books are great. Tests are very fair, straightforward, and fairly easy.

100 level class, VERY hard, got an A, but worked my butt off for it. He's smart, and won't put up with you if you act stupid or disinterested. Take his class if you want to learn something.
