Gary has such a way with teaching everyone. If you are willing to listen, he is willing to teach. He wants to each you about Jazz and Life, listen well to every word he says. If he is hard on you it is because he wants to see you fulfill your potential. Every CSUN student should take at least one class with this Master of Life.

Gary Pratt is the jesus of the csun music department. I don't know what these people below are talking about -- just don't be a pompous jerk who thinks you already know everything. Listen to the wisdom of Gary Pratt -- he has been on the planet a lot longer than you. Just work hard and be honest with yourself. Don't put on any gimmicks

Gary can be pretty cruel to students who do not jibe with his teaching style. He often simply gets his way by screaming and yelling, not by true leadership. When I first met him, I really respected him. After I saw what he was like, I totally lost respect for him.

He's over-rated, Big Time! First his biased, strong opinions can lead anyone to either love or hate his teaching style. Without any hesitation, I hate his style. Lacks modeling musicianship(doesn't practice what he teaches), patience, guidance to being a successful musician. He should retire!

Ahhhh Maann! What else can you say about Mr. Gary Pratt that hasn't been said already. This compassion for his students is even more evident than his musical talent. As opposed to other theory teachers like Howard (DUN, DUN, DUUUNN) Gary makes it his purpose to invest his musical energies into the betterment of his students.

This class is pretty cool, you can learn useful information about the music industry. But, somehow, after being in his class for a while, you can tell that he is kinda arrogant. Pratt is awesome! Music theory used to be extremely hard for me, but after time in his class, I feel like an old pro. He really knows what he's tlaking about and if you do exactly what he says, you're set for sailing. Very interesting, funny, and nice.
