I took Women and the Law with Dent and it literally changed my life. It was tough but so insanely worth it. The way my mind/ language/ perspective on the law has expanded is priceless. you need to read Take home midterm and final that are hard, you have to be prepared but she grades on improvement (I got C on midterm and A in class) 10/10

I ended up with an A+ but this wasn't my favorite. Way too much reading with too little clarification in lecture. Dent speaks too fast & has no supplemental material/lecture slides AT ALL. I only performed this well and managed a high grade because I didn't force myself to do all readings, just chose interesting readings to base my papers off of.

Best professor/mentor I have ever had. Opened my eyes to so many incredible concepts, and inspired me to keep learning. I think everyone should take a class with Professor Dent before they graduate, she is incredibly knowledgeable and inspirational. Approaches heavy concepts with grace and accessibility. By far the best academic experience I've had

One of the best professors I've had. Dent is extremely knowledgeable and I looked forward to her lectures because they were actually engaging. Expect a lot of reading. Classes with her will definitely be "demanding but rewarding" if you care about the material being taught.

Gina Dent is by far the most brilliant professor I have had the honor to be taught by. Her lectures are dense yet so well organized and presented that I felt I was at an Ivy league. Dent cares deeply about the material and wants her students to be critically engaged so it is crucial to do the readings. Overall, Dent is a gem who deserves RESPECT!

Professor Dent is a brilliant lecturer. She expects a lot from her students, which is a great thing if you care about the course material & are interested in engaging. She really cares about her students and wants everyone to gain an understanding, no matter what level they come in at. I recommend participating in class & going to office hours.

Confuses students through her academic vocabulary. Hard to follow lectures, not much organization in the course, and LOTS of reading and writing.

Dent is a spectacular speaker and a seriously smart human being. She travels the world constantly and has amazing stories. Yes, the class has a lot of reading, but she is super sympathetic to that. She is very intelligent and is always willing to help you understand if you need help. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this class to anyone who wants to explore FMST!

Dr. Dent is a genius that UCSC is lucky to have! If you're trying to take feminism 1 or something because you think it will be easy, go take something else. You must do the intense readings to understand whats going on in her slideless lectures, and ignorance will not be tolerated in the mandatory discussion based sections.

SO much reading, but she rarely talked about the reading. The lectures were extremely hard to follow because she went off topic a lot. It's obvious that she is knowledgeable about the subject, but her teaching style needs to be more concise and related to the subject at hand. Would not recommend this class for just GE credit.

Gina is an amazing Professor and truly pushes you to think about things that you may not have considered before. Her classes are thought provoking and extremely interesting. She teaches material that no other professor on campus teaches. She is also extremely open about giving guidance to students who take the time to ask for it. Best mentor at UC.

Her lectures were hard to follow because she does not use power points or any type of notes. She tends to ramble a lot. The readings were difficult and the papers too. Section only seemed to help sometimes. The tutoring helped a whole lot. Spent a lot of time on this class but it didn't seem worth it in the end.

Professor Dent could talk about screen doors and I would learn 40 new things. She's extremely approachable and willing to talk to you basically whenever. You really need to read the articles before coming to class though. Her lectures are amazing and are better experienced if you do the reading first.

I thought that feminist studies would be really interesting, but upon my first lecture I realized it was NOT at ALL what I had suspected. Prof Dent tends to ramble on and on in lectures and can be very diffucult to follow. The readings can also be tricky though sections help a lot. All in all if you dont have to take this class for a major DON'T.

Outrageously smart woman. Truly wants students to come out of class with a different approach to knowledge, and I can honestly say that I have. Her teaching style demands attentiveness, but she provides other resources if you don't understand. I plan to take many other courses taught by Prof. Dent
