All you really have to do for this class is show up and write a paper. I didn't even have to do any of the readings because he summarizes the important parts that are going to be on the exams in class. He gives a straightforward study guide before both exams, and the only grades in the class are the 2 exams and a paper that isn't too taxing.

I loved Mitchell! His class was very reading heavy, but if you read them and show up, you will literally get a 100% on the exam. Two exams, but the final is cumulative. One paper which you know about a long ways ahead. The class material is really interesting, especially if you are interested in journalism and "fake news." Would take again!

Mitchell was an excellent professor for Argument. Very fair grader, and makes the in-class experience lots of fun. Readings can get dry, and he does have reading quizzes. Just buy into his teaching and you'll have fun. One of the nicest professors I've had.

Good guy. Clear lectures. sometimes there are pop quizzes on the readings, but these are very easy A's. Funny and genuinely seems to care that you're learning something.

Prof Mitchell is super knowledgable and passionate about the subject matter. I learned a ton in his class, but he isn't out to trick you. He genuinely wants you to learn. His grading criteria is clear and he is available and approachable to discuss things further if you need help. Would definitely take other classes he teaches.

Professor Mitchell is awesome! Very passionate about the subject so classes were fun! Respectful&caring Occasional pop-up quizzes that are pretty easy if you read the material before class. Each submitted 1 research paper (on separate due dates that are known well in advance) that wasn't hard at all. Would gladly take another class he is teaching!

His lectures tend to be all over the place, but overall the class was very easy. Weekly quizzes are provided, so attend class. The final was only 25 questions and he provides you with a review sheet beforehand. Probably the easiest class I've taken in college so far. If you are looking for an easy A, this course is definitely recommended.

He's super enthusiastic and a great guy, but like previous reviews say not a very efficient teacher. Lectures are scatterbrained and pointless, but readings were interesting and I learned a LOT in recitation with Wil Upchurch, a great TA. Easy to get an A, but the class will only be fun if you apply yourself to readings. Don't bother with lectures.

Dr. Mitchell is very very intelligent. Lectures were amusing, but that is about all they were. We had a lot of readings to do, but we didn't go over them much in class. His method is unconventional. At times, lecture seemed like a variety show. However, the class is easy to do well in. I did learn more than I expected from a Wikipedia project.

I loved his personality! But he does teach with a less traditional approach so if lectures are something you enjoy, then don't take his class. There is little to no "lecturing" in his class. But you definitely get a lot out of the course. Just make sure to read the assigned texts and there is no reason for you not to get an A in his class.

Comment:
Gordon Mitchell prefers the problem-solving education model to the conventional baking education model. Yet the final is a 25-question objective test. It is not appropriate given the format of the course.

Professor Mitchell, while a great guy, is not efficient as a teacher. The majority of his lectures are either sales pitches for other classes or useless information. Little to no time is spent clarifying the readings. I would not recommend him as a teacher.
