This was by far my favorite class. Super interesting and easy. Dempsey was a great professor and had a lot of interest in the class. Powerpoint lectures and exams (sometimes open book). Plus, extra credit for attendence! The homework assignments are really simple. Definitely take this class.

Can't say enough about Mr. Dempsey. I mean, he played bass for Frank Sinatra, Jr.! Awesome professor, interesting subject matter, and exam questions come directly from the notes. I would take this class a hundred times over.

Such a good guy. All the quizzes are curved at least 5% and the questions are straight out of the notes we take in class. I highly recommend this class as an elective.

Awesome! I loved his class! Very easy.. all you do is take notes from slides. You have to attend 4 concerts and write about them. No Book! Very interesting subject! I recommend!

He was an amazing teacher! Always helpful and understanding. Even when I had to make-up tests or had emergencies of my own he was always very chill about things. The class is really just powerpoint, movies, and some music. Oh and you have to attend 4 concerts. :) Pretty much a great class and I promise if you take a class with him you will LOVE it!

Mr. Dempsey really knows what he is talking about and really enjoys what he does. The only homework for the class is to attend 4 concerts and there is a presentation on an artist of your choice. The final exam is only over the last unit; it isn't cumulative. I definitely recommend taking this class!

Prof. Dempsey is a fantastic teacher. Calls his tests "quizzes" because they are so easy. Take good notes because all of his quizzes are open book/open notes. You are required to watch 4 movies, two must be in theaters. Extra credit available. Easiest class. Easiest A. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Prof Dempsey is a very kind man. He's willing to explain anything that you don't understand. Even if you just want to talk to him about something you found interesting he'll talk to you about it. Great guy, and easy class. Lots of note-taking, but very easy. Open note tests and exams as well.

this guy knows his stuff better than probably any of the other music profs here. He is amazing on piano and bass, and teaches you everything you will need for the tests. Great guy with a great sense of fashion, teaching some great classes.

He knows what hes talking about. He may get dull sometimes but hes really good at what he teaches. He teaches with: powerpoint, movies and he demonstrates on instruments occassionally. I really enjoyed this class. It was really easy for me and I have no prior knowledge of music and its history. Theres no textbook either! I recommend taking him!!

i took him for 221 and 228...hes great..really easy..curves some exams..extra credit for going to extra concerts...no textbook..presentations are soo easy;..everyone gets like full credit jus for going up and talking..221 is kind of boring..228 is much better and easier

Took him for 221 (appreciation), 232 (American Pop), and 290 (film). There's a reason I took him three times. He's a great professor, his classes are very easy, and you actually learn a lot. For music in flim the quizes are all open note/book. That is also the only class he used a textbook for. I
