Comment:

Dr. Spratt is an really nice guy, and he obviously loves his job. I, however, had a really hard time following his lectures and taking good notes. Even when I recorded them, I was borderline D's and Fs on my quizzes (but did better on exams). Lecture is a bit unorganized, but if you're willing to work, he's a stellar guy.

Dr. Spratt is awesome and loves his job very much and can "prattle" on for hours about microbiology. He is an awesome teacher who cares about his students. He is old school and does not post anything! No notes, powerpoints etc.. RECORD his lectures and you will be fine.

Although he does not post notes, ppts, or study links/tools on Blackboard, recording his lectures will clarify your confusion and misunderstanding of specific details he won't reiterate in his following lectures. His quizzes and exams have superfluous wording, but as long as you pay attention to HIS in-class material, you can succeed!

Dr. Spratt is a really interesting teacher and loves micro! Lectures are a must since he takes questions straight from notes. Record lectures cause he talks fast! Quizzes are harder than tests but it gets better as you go!

This is a hybrid grad/undergrad Bioremediation class. Dr. Spratt is always willing to help. Had lots of chances for grades: presentations, labs, reports, tests, etc. Dr. Spratt is a microbiologist so this class is heavy on microbiology. Great class!

Dr. Spratt is the nicest teacher on Utc campus ever. He is very considerate and always willing to help. His class is a piece Of cake. He doesn't write on the board but a tape recorder can fix that problem. If you are good in bio like I am you can easily go and wing his test for an easy b . Gives a lot of easy assignments to bost your grade!!!

I had him for immunology and microbiology - he's fantastic. Knows his stuff, passionate excellent teacher. Don't miss class, all of his tests are from the lecture so be sure to show up and take good notes. He's my favorite teacher at UTC by far

Dr. Spratt is awesome. He makes this class so interesting!! Lab and lecture actually are relevant to each other (unlike most biology classes). This subject is so interesting and Dr. Spratt really has a passion for it, which is evident through his teaching. All his quizzes and tests are essays, which sounds hard, but isn't bad. TAKE HIM. :)

This guy kicks ASSets! One of the best! Unbelievably helpful! Just take good notes and you will do fine. All the tests/quizes come straight from the notes. If you know the notes, you know the tests... that simple. If you dont know the notes... well then you arnt studying hard enough. He's very clear so if your notes are good you have no excuse.

Lecture tests are all essay. Lab tests are MC, TF, and SA. Talks alot during lecture, but writes little on the board.Try to get everything he says because tests/quizzes are based on lecture.Book is about as useless as a paperweight except for referencing things you missed in lecture.Very nice and approachable when you need help.Overall recommended.

Tests are short answer/essay based and cover the material he gives you in handouts. There are also 3 literature reports and several quizzes. For lab you have to identify two unknown bacterial species. Overall Dr. Spratt is good although he can be boring and does not write much on the board. But is very willing to help you if you go to him.

Dr. Spratt is one of the nicest professors at UTC. It seems like his grading can be harsh at times, but you have so many grades in that class (5 quizzes, 3 exams, 3 papers, 3 lab quizzes, final) that as long as you are doing well overall, one grade won't kill you. It takes a while to learn what he wants on his tests, though.

This guy knows his stuff, and is always willing to help you. He is my all time favorite prof! He doesn't follow the book, so go to all the lectures and take good notes.
