Dr. Ducharme is a very nice guy. However, his class is the most boring class i have ever taken. Its easy, but it is hard to sit through the whole lecture. His lectures are pointless. All exams are 5 page papers. Lectures are tedious. Easy class but so boring. He will often ramble on one point for the whole lecture. If you like boring, then take him

I literally didn't pay attention in this class at all. Everyone is on there phones the whole time. I literally hated going to this class. Mr Ducharme is a very nice guy, but Ethics is the worst topic of all time. Have to do 3 papers that are sort of hard since i didn't pay attention lol but thank god im done with this class.

I've had intro/bio/neuro ethics with him. He is super smart but down to earth and enjoys discussion. One of my favorite profs! He is very kind, amusing, and has fun stories relating to material. Attend class, do readings, and takes notes while he lectures so you can follow his shorthand on the powerpoints later. Extra credit on paper/test possible!

Dr. Ducharme is an entertaining and thought provoking prof. He's kind and always accessible/willing to help you understand content. 3 take-home exams (16 hours, 10 pages) and a lot of reading for each. He rarely answers questions directly, usually a 10 + min tangent ensues, but you'll learn a lot during such. I personally loved him.

I took him for biomedical ethics and managed to finish with a B but i understood nothing and if you ask him a question, he will go off on a tangent telling a 23 minute story that doesn't clarify anything at all. Took neuroethics for three days and dropped it. I love philosophy and ethics but his class was impossible. Boring lectures, confusing.

Ducharme is the most precious human being in the world, he has the most adorable stories and he takes every idea into consideration. He takes very sloppy notes that really aren't that important towards the things you need, but you could easily complete the homework in class. Definite easy A

Dr. Ducharme is great, I took him for intro to ethics last fall. He does go off topic a lot but he tells really interesting stories which can be used in your essays and exams to support your main points.I got 110/100 on the first exam because he found my essay to be well written and detailed. Pay attention and participate in class to get an A!

I barely go to class but I have an A. He's boring and goes on forever. However, he's a nice guy and easy to approach the exams are take home and just long papers but as long as you explain everything and answer what he wants in a page or two you'll get an A. He gives different opportunities for extra credit which is nice.

This class wasn't too terrible because all you have to do is pay attention to the stories and examples that Dr. Ducharme tells you. However, you do spend a lot of time on one topic so be prepared to get bored occasionally. The good thing about this class is all of the exams are take-home essays and he puts his powerpoints online for you to use.

All over the place with his notes. Powerpoint's make no sense. You can go to him and ask a question and then review with a friend and both have different answers to the same question. When he writes on the board, he is highly unorganized and his hand writing is atrocious. Stay away from Ducharme thats all I can say

His boring lectures are 60% review from the previous class, 30% him rambling about the same thing, and 10% him saying "etcetera." Has a seating chart AND attendance sheet, you will not get credit for the day if you leave early. Our midterm had to be 1.5 pages and 5 paragraphs. I got points deducted for being too vague. Do NOT take his class.

One of the most boring professors I have ever had. He goes on and on about who knows what and all the notes he writes on the board look like squiggles that have no connection but he draws lines to connect them for some reason. He gives study guides which are the test banks, so write out answers to those questions and you will do well.

Had him for introduction to ethics. Had no idea what anything was about going in to the class, but learned a few things. Just go to class bc he takes attendance, his notes are hard to follow. test are all ER so be ready to write. Have to actually study some. Not a bad class if you need to take it.

Dr. Ducharme is one of the best profs i have had so far at UA. I hear a lot of complaining from freshman students who cannot handle the critical thinking aspect of the class. The notes he writes on the board are confusing but the reading and power points are very clear and straight foreward! He takes attendance every day but lets you sign the sheet even if you come in late. He likes to tell stories but it is easy to miss his point. He had a few extra credit papers and his only HW was to read chapters from the book. His exams are all essay, but it is straight foreward if you read the powerpoints and did the study guide! He is very nice and passionate about his job! I highly recommend him!

He just doesn't embrace what philosophy is about, and as a philosophy major that's disappointing. Debates are cut off short, and the class is limited to memorization when it should be about critical thinking.

He really knows what he is talking about but goes way to deep for an intro class. It sometimes seems like he forgets it is a lower level and treats it like an upper level class. The lectures are confusing to follow. Only asks about 5 questions on the test but the study guide doesn't help at all. VERY hard grader and is picky about answers.

Cant skip class. youll fail. lots of pop quizzes over the readings that have nothing to do with the tests. class is so confusing and his notes on the board are impossible to understand. his voice is so boring. doesn't even go by the powerpoints. avoid at all costs.

Absolutely fantastic instructor, an ethical genius. One of the best at Akron. Extremely eager to help all students. Fascinating class for health profession majors and pre-meds. You will need to pay attention in class, take good notes, and read the assigned articles. If you do this, the class should be no problem.

Dr. Ducharme is one of the best teachers I have had at UA. He is extremely knowledgeable about what he teaches, and is always more than willing to spend as much time as you need in office hours to make sure you understand the material. I found his bioethics class challenging, but very interesting. Highly recommended!
