He's extremely understanding if you have any personal issues. So as long as you have a legit excuse as to why you would be missing class, he's okay with it. Make sure you shoot him an email ahead of time though. He might not answer, but he'll read it. If you need to leave early, he's good with that too. Tests are easy. GET THE REQUIRED BOOKS.

Unless you Love Philosophy, this won't be the most interesting class you've taken. He is, however, by far you Best Choice here at ccm. He allows a sheet of paper for each test, and his tests are all based on power points. Would recommend to bring your laptop for fast note taking, trust me. Long lectures, but if you take notes you will do fine.

He is so funny and nice. He really knows his stuff and he makes philosophy sound so interesting and he is so insightful. Also he lets you use an 8x11 front and back sheet of notes for each test, even on the final! I definitely recommend him

Best professor I've ever had. I'm a philosophy major and I've been waiting for a professor as interesting and knowledgeable as him. He has a very dry sense of humor and will often relate discussion topics to our lives, making the topics much easier to understand. I would take philosophy and religion again if I could!

into to philosophy was great ! i had no interest but hes really nice and flexbile if you absent the slides ar online and he is easy goingg with it. also if people did not do well on the test he somestimes lets you work over the questions and turn it back in he gives you a cheat sheet . it can be boring at times but hes very nice!

Intro to philiosophy class was boring at times, he doesnt let you go off topic AT ALL, if you do he just ignores you, but he really is a nice guy and gives lots of extra credit, he thinks hes funny but hes not lol, but its funny that he thinks he is so that works. Tests are kinda hard but you get to use a cheat sheet. DONT BE ABSENT more than twice

A wonderful teacher. He is not boring; in fact, he is incredibly interesting. He inspires me to be a better person. Mr. Matlack has completely changed my perception of the world. This class comes highly recommended! P.S. He ain't too hard on the eyes either!

YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!! You may often wonder throughout the class..."Where is he going with this". Very obtuse! But, the saving grace is that he does allow notes, although the test questions are obscure. ADVICE: Drink LOTS OF COFFEE BEFORE CLASS so that you can stay awake! Good luck!

i had him for philosophy..n let me just say he was horrible. I had 2 outs..and if i was not in class again...i would be cut...however..he cut me from the class..bc i missed a 3rd class...but i was in the ER room! i was rushed to the hospital and he CUT me..i spoke to the dean n the dean said its not their decision..how f*ed up is that?

zzzz. Wake me up when it's over. I was looking forward to this class beforehand. Now, I'll never take philosophy again. Yes, the tests are easy, and it's great to be able to use notes, but he is a lousy teacher. He barely uses the book, makes you take notes off the BLACKBOARD. Getting info out of this guy is like pulling teeth. Slow and painful.
