Very good guy. If you're not interested in politics or have lots of knowledge about it then I don't recommend this class. He builds bonds with his students and is super friendly. If you pay attention in his class and study for his exams you should be in good shape.

Lectures are amazing and never boring. He is extremely good at his job and makes learning fun. The tests are hard if you dont do the assigned readings. Best teacher I have ever had. Enjoyed taking his class.

You get whatever you want out of this class because he gives extra credit for participating but also doesn't call you out if you don't want to talk. If you're even a little bit interested in politics, I would recommend taking this class because Herrera makes it interesting and helps you come up with your own opinions without his bias.

Definitely makes you work for that A. Most people end up getting around a B in the class. He's so passionate about what he does. He's very unbiased in his teaching, which is rare nowadays. Very helpful altogether. Definitely take him :)

Professor Herrera is a great teacher! His lectures are very engaging. Was able to get over 100 points of extra credit! All you have to do is speak in class and you get 2 points. If you pay attention during lectures you will have no trouble passing the tests.

This is honestly one of the hardest courses I have ever taken. However, Dr. Herrera gives great lectures and encourages participation, however some students do go overboard sometimes. My only complaint is the textbook which is by Mindtap cengage learning, which is online, and it's hard to find help for this type of course.

There are 3 exams, which cover exactly what is in the book, which is all online and very useful. The final exam is cumulative, not too hard if you study for it, just a lot of material, but he explains what is on there. The final is made up from the older exams. He uses Mulligans as extra credit, so ask and answer questions in class. would recommend

3 exams which aren't too difficult and a final exam which is cumulative and very hard. Lots of weekly reading and homework. Gives barely any extra credit and takes attendance through in class essays. Very difficult for an A just settle for a B

Great teacher, clearly passionate about his work. Some of the students go a little overboard in class but he knows how to reign in back. The tests, 3 of them, were fairly easy. Final was HARD. Good class regardless.

He is great. He laughs at his own jokes a lot. Somehow knew my name when there was around 200 people in the class. He gives extra credit for asking questions and reporting the news. Attendance is really really important. tests are kind of hard when it comes to court cases and remembering exact document wording, but besides that pretty easy.

As long as you go to class and do the weekly assignments you should be fine. Sometimes class discussions get derailed but everyone is encouraged to speak. He does a pretty good job of appearing unbiased.

Herrera is easily my favorite Poli Sci professor. He engages his class to the fullest extent and his lectures are amazing. If you have taken AP Gov in the past, this class should be a breeze. The textbook is expensive af but he wrote it so there's no way around it. Don't be afraid to talk in class, he gives extra credit to those who participate.

Great professor, make sure to keep up with the online assignments. Tests are tough due to how much material is thrown at you. Be sure to stay fresh on all the topics, the final is cumulative.

Lectures could occasionally get off topic but most of your success in the class is determined by if you read the textbook/do all the assignments (which are online). Prof Herrera is nice, encourages questions, and can talk politics while being unbiased. I enjoyed his class and the commentary/knowledge he had to offer. Not super hard but have to try

He's an amazing professor! He gives great lectures, easy to talk to at office hours, and is a fair grader. The only thing I don't like is that he doesn't give a study guide for his tests which are extremely specific and lots of information. You just have to take really good notes during his lectures! SO many extra credit opportunities.

By far my favorite professor. He makes lectures interested and is very knowledgable about all subjects covered in class. Attendance was taken on Tuesdays, with Thursday attendance being extra credit. He also gives out "mulligans" for participating in class discussions which are points that go directly on you exams. A great class.

He is such a good teacher, and I would for sure take him again. There are a number of chances for extra credit, just by participating. He also makes the lectures interesting, and is fair when it comes to presenting views from both sides of the aisle, without coming across as biased. The textbook is used a lot, and make sure you read it for real.

Professor Herrera is a great lecturer and keeps class interesting. He also offers tons of extra credit. He's very unbiased in class, but the textbook he uses, which he wrote, is extremely ideologically unbalanced.
