Very long, boring lectures. Its hard to pay attention is class. He doesnt use canvas so it can be hard to stay up to date and get in contact with him,

Comment:

He's a bit old-fashioned for sure, but he absolutely knows his stuff and has a good sense of humor! The homework is super easy, he gives you like 2 weeks to do it. His notes are sometimes long, but when you do actually need to write it all down, he makes sure to give plenty of time. Tests are straightforward and not too difficult if you study.

Mr. Archer is a great guy & very knowledgable about this class. I definitely recommend going to class, he randomly takes attendance and 1/2 of the materials on the tests are from the lectures, 1/2 is from the book. Maps are very important to remember. You don't need to copy word for word his lectures, he adds way more than you need to know

Professor Archer is very passionate about Geography and has traveled many places around the world so sometimes he has personal stories about places. It is quite difficult to stay engaged during class though, and he presents his notes in paragraph form. He always has tons of information in the notes, and his tests are very specific so it's difficult

Great teacher, interesting class. Archer has a ton of character and he packs a lot of information into his lectures. Worth your time if you have an interest in urban studies or economics.

I took tons of notes because his lectures are extensive. He goes into all the fine details of his topics, which is interesting, but becomes too much. His PowerPoints are also structured in paragraphs, but you can pick out short bullets if you have enough time. The tests go in detail, so studying is often difficult when there's so much to know.

Dr. Archer is extremely thorough. If you go to class and take enough notes (his are probably TOO thorough, you can definitely write down less than he has). His tests are 85% multiple choice 15 essay and are extremely easy and obvious if you have an IQ over 75. It's a stress-free class.

Also had him for GEOG 361. One of those professors who makes you marvel at their intelligence on seemingly every topic. A lot of people say you needed the book, I didnt use either once. Very quirky lecturer but tells you everything you need to know if you toss a little common sense on top of what he gives you and attend class.

Pages and pages of notes.Just read the book and you won't need to take so many notes.It's really important to attend class because he changes assignment due dates and exam days constantly and will only tell you in class. Kind of a boring voice and hard to follow. Simple assignments, mediocre examas.

Archer is totally awesome! Dry sense of humor, lots of stories about his travels to the region of discussion, dramatic pauses, he has it all! What he does not have, however, is concise notes. Instead, you get paragraphs, but you figure out what is necessary after test 1. Reading the book is essential for most to do good.

Dr. Archer is fascinating to those interested in topics like apportionment, Gerrymanding, etc. He is absolutely obsessed with these things and knows more about them than almost anyone alive. I really enjoyed this class. Great sense of dry humor too.

Really quirky guy. Weird but funny. He's obviously well travelled and sometimes he shows vacation pictures in class. He makes the class interesting by having firsthand experience in most of the regions you talk about. My only complaint is that he writes pages and pages of wordy notes! It's best to paraphrase.

This guy is amazing. Super easy A, and I didn't try hard. You learn a lot, and he makes it really interesting. He has a muppet voice and kinda looks like Sam the Eagle from the muppets, which is a nice plus. He's a nice guy and helpful too. Great class.

He is not a good teacher.He gives you paragraphs of notes everyday so you take about 4-6 pages of notes everyday.He is not helpful if you want a grade or help on an assignment, he will act distracted.I do not recommend the class.

Professor Archer enjoys very much what he does. He has a strong interest in geography. After taking his class, you will learn alot about the subject. Watch out though, he thinks it is funny to offer the syllabus all the way through the semester. He will offer it to the class during dead week.
