Danner is a good teacher. He's patient and very willing to answer any questions. He posts his power point and sample quizzes online. He also drops your lowest quizzes and grades on a curve. It is very possible to pass but expect a hard class. You need to use your book and really take advantage of the resources he provides.

He is a very hard teacher to follow some time. You must read your book, and go beyond it. Practice all the questions he give. He provides an online extra credit program that really helps if you do all of them. Good curves, and exams are decent. His quiz are random, and follow what he lectures. Very little lab time due to his love of chemistry.

Chem 1b is 95% MATH and 5% chemistry. Fairly easy material but the professor is horrendous in teaching it. My biggest advice is to practice textbook problems and you would atleast get a B.

He's a smart guy and you just want to like him, but the man is a poor teacher. His lectures are inane and flow well into the designated lab time. His tests and quizzes follow no pattern. The only way to do well in his class is to go above and beyond the assigned HW. I've never invested so much time into a class not related to my major.

Doesn't care about his students. Crushes whatever time you have for lab. Lecture is not helpful and chaotic. Test are very doable though. Quizzes are very hard and random. I love chemistry... I hate Danner....

There is no doubt he's a very smart man, but for god sake he CANNOT Teach. He didn't provide SI, his test were difficult and so were his quizzes. wasn't clear on what was going to be on his quizzes/test. 12quizzes and 4 test. His lectures were all over the place. Chemistry is my FAVORITE subject and this class was a HORRIBLE experience.

Tests and quizes are easy enough if you go to SI and STUDY!!! The practice exams are his exams question for question. Lecture is pretty much pointless and will only confuse you. Lab is impossible - no matter how hard you try you will not do as well as you want. Nice guy who is helpful if you keep him on track but that is hard to do!!! Good luck!

I cannot understand why he still teaches. He spends an inordiate amount of time explaining the labs, then gives very little time to complete them. His lecture is a joke, and not at all understandable. If you have to take him, make sure you attend SI.

this class would be easy but i did not learn anything from this instructor. He doesn't really know how to teach. He teachs what he want to teach, in his own way. He sometimes teaches something different from textbook.

good luck tryin to learn anything from him! can't teach! horrible explanations, that's why everyone bombs the standardized ACS portion of the final which tests ur conceptual knowledge. exams & quizzes r super easy if u study old problems & memorize how to do them. learned everything else from reading the book or google. got A's in both 1A & 1B.

he's a good teacher, helpful, and kind of hard. i enjoyed his class (well, except when we are taking tests). his test is pretty hard, but if you study the practice test, read the text book, read his instruction, do the problem online, review the note, and go to the SI, you won't have any problem of passing the class.

Most people fail his class because they are idiots to begin with. He practically gives you everything you need to get an A in the class. His online practice quizes are 95% the same as his real quizes. The SI leader is EXTREMELY helpful. If you do your part, there is no way you can get anything lower than a B.

Sorry but students can tell when teachers respond to actual student comments, any comment that says "Don't listen to those negative feedback" and the way to get an A is by doing practice exams in the book is obviously a comment left by the professor.

Seriously, people. Dont listen to those negative feedback. Dr. Danner is a great teacher. If you want to be prepared for higher education, take him. My tips to get an A in his class is to study practice examples in the book. Plus, make sure you go to the SI section. You will have some ideas how the quizzes and exams are going to be.

Relatively easy material. Shockingly horrific teacher. Lectures are excruciating to endure. Five minutes with the book or the supplemental instructor is more valuable than a semester of "education" from this monstrosity. He always sounds as if he is whining or arguing with an invisible heckler in the room. He is simply incapable of communicating the simplest of concepts. Highly recommended -- for masochists.

Anything in the book is open game for test, as it should be. If you want to learn chemistry, Dr. Danner will teach it to you. It is not an easy subject so don't expect any chemistry class to be easy.

The material was easy but Danner made it hard. I noted every time he said "you don't need to know this for the test", and EVERY SINGLE TIME it was on the test. His tests include information NEVER covered in class. His 'prelab' discussions take half of the lab class of more, leaving the students no time. Take this class somewhere else.
