She's nice. That's it. She's picky, somewhat passive aggressive, and incredibly, incredibly boring. Would not recommend.

Tough grader. Serious about LIT and expects you to be serious & professional. Professionalism is not often expected of students. Not surprising she is rated poorly. This is the way grading was in the 50's. Rigor is not expected by most students. I am a good writer, but would have to put a lot more effort to get an A because I am not meticulous.

Extremely boring lectures but easy homework, plus she offers a couple extra credit assignments. However, you MUST do the reading every night. Lets you bring an index card with notes for tests, and as long as you're there every day (attendance is 60% of participation), you should pull through with a B (or an A if you enjoy English).

Comment:
Professor Gray's class is not that difficult... in theory. However, she micromanages her students by making them take notes on the readings and then grading the notes. She also grades essays and tests ruthlessly, and nit-picks everything apart. Class is extremely boring, bring a pillow and blanket. I agree with everything written above and below.

Made a great subject a terrible experience. She doesnt allow any contributio nexcept her own. Its almost like she asks you your opinion just so she can destroy it in front of other students and boost her own esteem. She kept class papers for over three weeks before handing them back, and scrutinized ever aspect of them. Stay away from this professo

I wouldn't take this teacher if she was the last one available for any English course. A nice woman but very tough grader. No matter how hard i tried she would never give anything better than a C.

Don't take this teacher. I thought American Literature would be an easy course to take to satisfy my literature requirement, but she grades so unfairly.

A ruthless grader; any criticisms are never constructive. It is difficult to succeed on tests because even repeating her opinions (which are the only correct perceptions of literature) verbatim result in points being deducted. Don't plan on forming your own opinion of literature...you won't enjoy it.

Very helpful teacher, but a harsh grader. You must be a very good writer to pass her standards and a hard worker. She assigns alot of assignments. A really sweet teacher though.
