Comment:
Rude and condescending person. Basic bio mindset. Doesn't know much about math, chemistry, physics, or anything else for that matter. Will drag classes on talking about nonsense just to keep students there until past class time. If you take his stupid island vacation "class", he'll probably act nicer and grade easier. Bad personality.

After taking both TEM and SEM, I highly recommend taking at least one of these courses. Both provide you with a unique skill set not offered by most undergraduate programs. Class material was easy, but you have to take good notes. He likes you to answer exam questions exactly word for word how he taught it. Practice makes perfect. Good images A

Dr Factor may get a poor reputation for being soft-spoken, but he's great at what he does. If you genuinely have interest in the classproject, you'll learn a lot. For SEM, he gives attention to each and every student and works closely with them on their project. Lobsters are weird, but we. Great guy, compassionate, but doesn't take any shht.

Ok, so Dr.Factor is very monotone and goes off on tangents a lot. The class its self takes a lot of dedicated time outside the lab and lecture. Straight forward instructions, just follow them and you will do fine.

As a person with no interest and little knowledge in science, he made the class interesting and engaging: an amazing feat. I wish there were more professors like him in my own department.

Comment:
Dry, dull, uninspiring, etc. He makes a lot of lobster jokes, and just generally doesn't engage the students/ make the topic relevant. He taught SMW,and made nonmajors who already disliked science even more apathetic about the subject. Monotonous lectures read straight from the book. I'd call his class The worst of high school, the sequel.

Factor is a great professor. He seems pretty laid back but it actually a bit meticulous. If you follow the guidelines he gives you, you'll be fine. Put in a small of effort for SEM, followed his instructions word for word for the final report and got an A+ in a 4,000 lab course. He likes students who try their hardest, and acknowledges them for it

I took an ecology course that he co-taught at a research lab- if you get to know him he's a great guy with a good (if a bit twisted) sense of humor. Very passionate about inverts, and he expects you to know your stuff! Yes, he does ramble, but he's also very knowledgable- I would take a class with him at SUNY Purchase if I attended the college. :-)

Yea, factor likes lobsters... ok, w/e. hes nice when he wants to be but then again, he talks down to students and makes them not want to like him. he does know what hes doing n hes smart but the way he teaches, sucks. any lecture u have with him, he'll put u to sleep and make u want to gauge ur own eyes out with his lame humor and mono-toned voice.

He made science comprehensible for us non-natural science majors which was really awesome. I thought he had a good sense of humor and showed us funny stuff every once in a while (POKEMON MITOSIS). He gave extra points on quizzes to boost grades that weren't great. You need to show up because he takes attendance. He uses a lot of power points.

Tells not funny jokes, and then pauses for us, but we aren't laughing, and it's awkward. We didn't talk about the subject of the course until the last three weeks.

I have never had such a worse experience with a teacher or a class in my life. One of the worst professors I have had and prob. will ever have. He is useless when it comes to helping you out and is completely obsesessed with himself and his lobsters. Plan on falling asleep during his lectures, and dont bother raising your hand, he doesn't care.

Well the guy loves lobsters. That's really all I can say. He's rambles a bit and the course seemed a bit unclear due in part to a vague syllabus and lack of assigned reading material. He's helpful and very kind.

Sounds a lot like the painter Bob Ross. Likes lobsters. I had him as a part of Dr. Tillotson's course and it was a nice break for her overly dumbed down lectures. Showed us pictures from his sponge trip to Florida.

I will never eat a lobster again, thanks to him. and he's a jerk when you need his help. blah!

Yes, the man is ridiculously monotone, but he knows his**** and he will explain things clearly and thoroughly. He loves to repeat himself and hear his own voice, but he will make time for you if you need him and does his best to help when ever he can
